Design Thinking

I absolutely love this idea, especially the new social value approach. The fact that this way of thinking is based on the people and not the product. The products and services should reflect the needs of the audience you wish to satisfy or create value for. Everyone works cooperatively, there is no hierarchy: CEO’s, employees, designers, etc. are all communicating. There is so much discussion involved before the actual adjustment to design is made. No ideas are bad ideas, there is only trial and error. This is exactly how i would like my business to run. Many times i feel that we are all on different pages, we have different ideas of what the business really is and what we do. I know that we must sit down and really define our mission, vision, and value statements together so we are all on the same page. We are straying away from the traditional capitalistic, colonized, industrialized way of thinking that entrepreneurs used to have; anything that would increase profits. Ive always though of this as a horrible way to run a company, a company that doesn’t care about social value is going to run itself into the ground because they are too busy looking at themselves. We must work as a team with the community we are trying to serve, design thinking does this.

Best part about design thinking is you can get everyones opinions on a specific product or service. I agree on the fact when you said we must work as a team with the community. This a great way of expressing empathy towards design thinking in my eyes.

Very well said! I like the point that you made about everyone working cooperatively, that’s very important when running a business. Often times employees get caught up in the hierarchy and their roles that they don’t think outside of their roles.
