Psychological safety facilitates asking for and sharing feedback, which in turn is crucial for motivation and optimal performance in a team. We all have been in a situation where someone on the team isn’t really a team player, or someone constantly misses agreed-upon deadlines and thus slows down the progress for the others. Good feedback is developmental (rather than solely evaluative): it helps us to improve our performance.
We suggest using a four-part model for giving feedback that takes into account both the content and the delivery and helps to provide actionable suggestions to lead to improvement.
