Music Journal #20

The use of music in clockwork orange play a huge and important role from beginning to the end. From when the movie begins and all you can here is the “dongs” and dreary music playing in the background makes you feel something bad has happened or has yet to begun. The music going along with posture and facial expression of the main character looking all sinister and evil and evil cant help but make you wonder what kind of person he is based on the music.

Beethoven especially plays a huge role and one can question why the use of Beethoven and I can only think of the ferocity of some of the pieces used such as symphony number nine which had such force that it was used for the violence scenes in the movie and it went perfectly well. each class and the speed of the music just made the scenes oh the more better and powerful. singing in the rain also will be connected in my mind to the beating of the old man. where singing in the rain is not so great but you sill find comfort in it.

where the old man was getting kicked and beaten while he was singing where it was not great joy for him but all the more joyous for Alex. Music plays a key roll in this movie where it was more like the emotions of the main character in song.
