Journal #22

Although we didn’t have an actual librarian come to class to discuss and explain how to use the resources in the Baruch library, I still managed to get a good amount of information. I actually knew about the databases that are available to the students at Baruch because I was required to use the databases to access information for my business class. So I was aware of how to use the databases but what I specifically got from today’s session was that you can limit your search to only scholarly articles. I knew there was the option of limiting your search in the database but I never bothered looking into it but today’s session help me realize that using the option of limiting your search can help a lot.

My next research step is to get used to using the database because I’m so used to using other search engines such as Google. I’ve only used the database once for one of my classes so I’m still new to using the database. Once I get used to the database and understand the use of the database, I will look into scholarly articles and other information that may be a help to the drafting process of the final paper.

I totally agree with you some of the databases I knew already knew about but the way of using it is different. I have begun my research today and some of the tips given was very helpful especially with the Google and Wikipedia topic since my research may be relatively new.
