Journal #22

The “Library Session” was actually quite helpful. I did not know how to access the library databases which would have hindered the research process. Learning about the way to specify searches and focus on certain articles that one may need.

I knew about the databases and will use them in my research, specifically the Academic Searches database. Yesterday’s lesson truly helped me figure out how to search important information for my research topic.

My next step while using the databases would be to figure out the “WHY?” in my research paper. As seen in my Scaffolding #1, my primary focus was sound effects and the way that it enhanced the violence in the specific scene. However, as said, that has minimal direction and there is no reason for a whole paper on just a topic. I need to research something that has that “so what” factor answered.

What also helped me was using quotation marks for Google search; I was not aware of that previous to the library session. In addition, like you said the use of filters could help my research out.
