This image here demonstrates the lynching that happened in the united states that barely get shown at all in any museum. The photo as seen above displays the white man posing behind a burnt man who has been lynch. With debris all over him. My reaction to this photography is to stare and watch closely and actually take in all that is going on. from the facial expression of the crowd in the back to how the burn what you used to be a person is laid on the ground. My reaction is that us Americans who look oat our selves as being for peace and freedom can barely look at our own past and understand what we have done ourselves. It bring on the idea that Sontag talked about where we can watch the pain of others and feel remorse and move on but when it comes to the pain that we have caused and know it has been wrong we can barely look or think about it for too long.
