A digital citizenship refers to people who uses the internet regularly and effectively. In today world, everyone is a digital citizen. We often take being a part of the internet for granted, abusing and misusing one of the mankind’s greatest accomplishment. Being a part of something this big, we have to be responsible for our actions.
Automated devices have taken over our lives. We can’t go a day without our phone or without checking our facebook or Instagram. Being a digital citizen means contributing to the society by expressing our thoughts and opinions on a particular topic and not just posting up pictures of our food. Digital citizens have the right to speak their mind; their opinions should educate the audience, not instigate them.
It is important that we realize the importance and responsibilities of our digital citizenship because that could be something that we pass on to the next generation. We, as the citizen, must help define how the technology is to be used. We can either use it the way it was meant to be use, for the greater good the mankind, or we can continue being involved in meaningless arguments on facebook or twitter.
I like your idea that we could do something that may influence our next generation. Imagine kids can search everything online about their parents. We should watch our words, set a good example for them and do as many great things online as we can.
