My favorite part of the novel is when Huck just start his adventure.
it reminds me the Robinson Crusoe. Before the adventure, Huck prepared his food, a canoe, money of course, and some other tools, then he even fake his own death, so that no one will think that he is going to an adventure. The beginning of an adventure is always full of fun. the future is unknown, and there is a lot of possibilities and guesses. what is Huck’s plans? How does he find his own freedom? Will He and Jim arrived those states without slavery?
During Robinson’s adventure, he collected the food and other useful things from the ship or the civilized world, and then creat his little kingdom alone. He was the king and the only servant. Huck also arrives an island at first, not far from his town, but no one lives there. Robinson later has a company, Friday. And Huck finds his company, Jim, in the island too. Just when I thought Huck and Jim will creat their own kingdom on the island like Robinson and Friday, they leave.
Ok, then, where will they go? They sail their raft, nothing fancy, all the way down, following the river. Then, it becomes a totally different adventure, comparing with Robinson’s.
Huck’s sense of adventure and his appreciation of nature may stem from his rejection of civilization.
