My favorite part of the novel so far has actually been something that I have already written about with a group of classmates. The scene is the Royal Nonesuch Play. The play is about the duke and dauphin scamming and conning the village. I enjoyed the ridiculousness of this part of the book.
One would think that after being scammed, the men would never have the audacity to trick the rest of the village to be scammed just as they were. However, being that the men in the first show were incredibly stubborn, they scammed the rest of the village as well to be humiliated and waste their money. I found it interesting how, instead of helping, they decided to let the village fall into the same trap that they did. The duke and dauphin were just enjoying their time scamming the villagers and getting all of their money. The play was interesting in the fact that they had no issue with scamming. There was a conning domino effect which was unexpected.
I love reading about plot twists and anything that could somehow change my predicted outcome. Therefore, this scene was my favorite. The creativity of the scene itself and the play sparked a lot of interest on my behalf.
I also enjoyed this this part of the book. I feel that the duke and dauphin’s ridiculousness come to mock society and how easy they are to believe the scams that constantly reoccur.
