My quote is “you make mistakes. you learn. Now, move forward.” I picked this quote because I feel like people can relate to it a lot. Growing up is apart of life and with that you learn things because of your mistakes. The picture that I picked was a guy standing and looking towards the mountains. I feel like this picture goes along with my quote because it looks like he is going towards a adventure. And that is what moving forward is about, it’s about moving into a new path to not go through your mistakes again. The typeface that I chose was Baskerville. I picked Baskerville because it is elegant and well-designed. It is a Transitional typeface, so it forms a difference between the Old Style and the Modern faces. So this is a great example on how it transitions old to new. My quote represents that same exact meaning, from going to new from old (past to the future).

Trace Your Name – Nicole Chicon
For this project I chose to design my name and word, the lively, with the typeface Bodoni. I chose to do this typeface because of how strong it looked. I learned that this typeface is different from the others because its x-height is smaller, and also the letters are wide and black. The serifs of Bodoni is very thin. While tracing my letters I could notice on how it has a very clean appearance to it. Bodoni has a strong emphasis of the vertical strokes as well. I felt like this typeface was easier to do, than the other typefaces. But it was a bit harder to hand draw it than to trace it. It was a very interesting project, to learn about a typeface while drawing it because you learn about.
“What is graphic design?” Nicole Chicon
Graphic design is a general design that expresses ideas and experiences through visual and text content. So visual communication comes along with graphic design. These two together still get their messages across by having a appealing graphic. Visual communication uses a more larger scale of photography and presentations, while graphic design is more into digital and print media. this article made me understand the different types of graphics as well as the different types of designs that happens when designers do work.
My question is how do you decide on the visuals or text that expresses your message? We decide by researching and brainstorming on how we can send our message across and having the reader understand it well enough. We also have a expert in every meeting, but if not we have individuals that capable in different areas. Everyone comes with ideas that can help us build and that can help us create what we are doing. Everyone has a task, so it won’t be a empty room full of empty brains. We are all thinking.
