Week 4 Update – Character Development
This past week has been all about creating a main character for my book. I originally wanted to have a Baboon as the main character and his name was going to be Bobby the Baboon. His character was going to be silly and funny throughout the story. However, I quickly changed my mind because I wanted my character to be relatable to my target audience which are little children. So I went to my local art store, bought a small sketchbook and some colored pencils and began brainstorming and creating my character. I decided to go with a little girl that sort of reminds me of my 6 year old niece Amarie.
I also came up with the concept of my first story and the title is going to be “But That’s Mine!”. It is going to be all about sharing and why it is important to do so. The story is going to be about a little girl (who is nameless at the moment) at school playing with her teddy bear and her classmates ask her nicely if they could have a turn playing with her teddy bear. She turns to them and says “But that’s mine.” And I will continue from there.
