Racism and violence against Asian Americans due to stigma over the coronavirus is on the rise.  It has been caused by rhetoric labeling the coronavirus as the “Chinese virus,” “Wuhan virus” or “Kung-flu.”  This needs to stop.

Our friends at CUNY’s Asian American/Asian Research Institute and the University Advisory Council on Diversity would appreciate your signature on their letter and petition to condemn the anti-Asian and anti-Asian American bigotry which is on the rise because of the divisive and hateful rhetoric of those who seek to divide the nation, at a time when all of us are vulnerable.

We believe that it is unconscionable that members of the Asian and Asian American community are threatened by the dangers of Covid-19, and by the very fact that they are Asian or Asian American.
