The educational development of Asian American and Mainland Chinese children are vastly different with the main factor being parental guidance. Parents in America are seen as more relaxed towards the education of their children, they don’t want to pressure their children to become completely absorbed in school work and books. While Mainland Chinese are the opposite, they will pressure their children to excel in school using negative reinforcement in many situations that involve beatings and holding out on food so that the child would be motivated to do well in school without any distractions allowing the child to be focused and ready to combat real world experiences. The Mainland Chinese methods are a more effective way to raise a well rounded educational child than the Asian American although the Mainland Chinese methods are at times a little too extreme the results achieve the goal of motivated and ready to work children.
