In this video I will discuss how the idea of a strict asian american mother can help her child become more involved in school academically and socially with methods that are used by mainland Chinese. Amy Chua discusses how children would not be able to combat the real world if they are always told “great job” even if mistakes were made. In a sense this creates a soft spot that will not give the child the ability to take criticism given a real situation in a work environment leading to conflict and the inability to complete given tasks. Early strictness creates discipline that will be very handy in future endeavors for a future student and worker.
