Stereotyping Language vs Language Stereotypes

Good morning!  It’s a new day and yes, time for another blog post.  I spoke a little about language (or a lot) through Lynscott’s performance, but this time, we have the chance to discuss the subject directly.  What does stereotyping language vs language stereotypes mean, and how does this connect to the relationship between the two?

When I say stereotyping language, I refer to how certain people immediately categorize you based on the way you speak.  Based on the word choices used in the past, those are matched up to determine the stereotype for the specific person.  If we counter this with a different idea of Language Stereotypes, that explains how certain words already are perceived in the stereotypical ideology, and simply using them forces the person into this role.

Language Stereotypes- based off the speaker

But perhaps the bigger question that should be answered is why the words language and stereotypes should even fit in the same sentence.
