Procrastination

Procrastination- let’s be honest here, we have all had experiences with delaying a task until the very last minute.  Personally, for me, when I hear this word,  college essays pop up in my mind in blaring red letters.  In my high school, many students started their college essays over a year in advance, outlining hundreds of ideas to find the best one for their applications.  In my case though, the idea of college intimidated me because it was the first time that the responsibility lay on my shoulders to get into a good school.  As opposed to high school where my school was a guaranteed certainty, finding and applying for colleges was my job to do.  I imagined my dream college looking at a thousand different essays, and plucking only the best ones to allow admission into the school.

However, the final week of summer, I sat down and spent the entire weekend writing my college essay, pouring all my emotions and reflections into those few pages.  Procrastination is like a cork in a bottle, once you open the bottle, the creative juices will pour out until you’re finished.  My curiosity with procrastination led to me to a research paper where my suspicions were confirmed- once people start a task, they have a much higher desire to finish it.  It is against human nature to leave things unfinished (for most of us at least

    I can definitely relate to your struggles with procrastination. I cant remember an assignment where I haven’t experienced procrastination. Isn’t it the worst but also the most rewarding after you finish your assignment last minute?

      I completely get your point! Doing things last minute is human nature, but I did find that if I was excited for a specific assignment, it got done quicker. So therefore, are we truly to blame? (audience realizes the perfect logic)
