That is it for this week. We talked about:
- Extending a conversation on “The Power Chapter” in Data Feminism by reading through classmates’ responses and furthering discussion by your own comments.
- We continued to talk about having a critical orientation toward data sets through an introduction to the prompt for the Data Set Biography and Influence assignment.
- We talked about different ways to find potential data sets to work with this semester and also some technical considerations in relation to doing that.
- There was a reminder about scheduling a one-on-one meeting with me if you haven’t done so already. In that meeting, one of the primary goals will be selecting a data set to work with.
- We shared resources for help through the Learning Needs Survey and any contributions you might have.
Next Time and Things to Do

- Work on your proposal for the Data Set Biography and Influence project. That is due by 11:59pm on Wednesday, February 17. (you just have to tell me the data set, attach it or link to it so I can see it, and explain to me why you want to work on it)
