Food Memory

During my trip to Malaysia, I met my dad’s side of the family for the first time. We spent majority of the time eating together and experiencing the taste of real authentic Malaysian food. As we walked down the night markets to that were filled with stands selling street food, my stomach started to rumble. We spent countless hours sharing the experience of trying new food. The the smell of the fresh curry noddles and milk tea was what brought joy to me. Not only did I have the pleasure of visiting my relatives, I was able to connect with them through our cultures food.

I liked how you mentioned the experience of trying new food, this resonates with my experience eating new food. Trying new things can never hurt, what if you end up enjoying the food instead. I was also drawn toward the part where you mentioned street food, I would always leave my eyes on those stands for a few minutes even as I am walking away from it going home because they look so appetizing and really good. What specific type of food did they serve there?

  2. i like how you made memories from night markets. i always felt that those late nights out eating street food brings such good vibes and makes the experience very memorable. trying new things for you and getting to know more about the culture is a very nice memory

  3. Wow! Reading this makes me reflect the diversity in food. It is so amazing how different countries contain special, recipes, dishes, and traditions. In New York city there are many restaurants that serve a variety of foods from different countries, however nothing beats the original.

  4. Reading your post reminded me of eating food in the Dominican Republic. Even though I eat Dominican food almost daily, it still tasted differently when I ate it over there. I wonder why the environment makes the food taste differently.
