What are the effects of immigrants in the U.S. workforce? Are they really taking jobs from Americans?
How does birth order affect ones’ work ethic?
What are the challenges and sacrifices that comes with devoting oneself to the work of God?

The extent to which refugee children have been conditioned by their environment is heartbreaking. We wanted permission to take this young girl’s photograph, so we asked if her mother was nearby. Her eyes filled with the most uncontrollable fear that I’ve ever seen in a child. ‘Why do you want my mother?’ she asked. Later, her parents told us how the family had crouched in the woods while soldiers ransacked their house in Syria. More recently they’d been chased through the woods by Turkish police. After we’d spent a few minutes talking with her parents, she returned to being a child and could not stop hugging us, and laughing, and saying ‘I love you so much.’ But I went to sleep that night remembering the terror on her face when we first asked to speak to her mother.

I chose this picture because it shows one of the biggest issues of the refugee crisis which is the danger that the children are in. The children are being exposed to every facet of war and are losing family members at very young ages. I hate the fact that many of them will not have the opportunity to enjoy life as a kid and the fact that they may be traumatized for the rest of their lives.
In the series “Breaking Bad”, the protagonist, Walter White is a high school chemistry teacher who has been diagnosed with stage III lung cancer. To ensure the financial prosperity of his family, White decides to make and sell crystal meth with his former high school student, Jesse Pinkman. This series follows the displacement route because Walter White is now in the world of crime and drugs. Here is a trailer of “Breaking Bad”.
For Essay 2 I decided to chose prompt #2 and write about “Drinking Coffee Elsewhere”. After thinking about the title for some time, I believe that the title plays a deeper role than it seems. Dina growing up with an abusive father and losing her mother all fit into the theme of loneliness and relates to the title. In my paper, I am going to talk about how the title can make us feel pity towards Dina.
Prompt 1: I felt displaced the first time I slept over at my friend’s house. It was for a week long and it was a week too long. I had to adjust myself to the family’s customs like waking up at 8 am for breakfast everyday and having bible studies.
Prompt 2: One leave taking experience that has affected me significantly was when my mother and father separated. Growing up without my father made me look up to my older brother for guidance in everything that I do.
Prompt 4: I speak many languages ranging from my mother to my college professor. Having many languages is something that I ponder about deeply because you are not being true to yourself if you have a lot of sides.
