Yablonovoskiy’s family Como from the southern area of Ukraine. they immigrated in 1997 to the United States because of religious persecution against jews. His family wanted him to value their culture despite the fact that they disliked the system they had back at home. The show Nu Pogodi was once just a show for Yablonovoskiy but as he grew older he realized that the show portrayed the life of his parents and grandparents. Growing up his grandfather would always speak on how life was for him. It was clear that this show was something significant not only to him but to his grandfather as it spreader the idea of communism. Even though the family is very different they still find a way to connect with one another.
Yablonovoskiy’s essay was very effective as it focused on comparing a show to the life his family are up living. It shines light to the injustices his family had to deal with when it came to their religion and how hard their life once were. The show in itself illustrated Communism and it gave something for him and his family to relate to.
