Yablonovoskiy talks about the show Nu Pogodi’s by telling us, the reader, about the difficult aspects of life and it’s hardships in the Soviet Union. Yablonovoskiy also mentions the war crisis that was at hand, and how excruciating it was to find a way of life during that time. Even when things were getting better, people were still experiencing many hardships. He talks about the extremes of living there because it was significant to his argument. The show Nu Pogodi was actually a show that made a very big different in Yablonovoskiy’s life. When he watched it as a young child, he didn’t quite understand all the cultural aspects of the show. However, as he started growing up he realized that this show was just about a wolf and a bunny chase, it was about the life of his people, their values, and culture.
Yablonovoskiy’s essay was extremely persuasive because he discussed the hardships that each generation had to face. Specially, all the stories from his grandfather because it helped bring her point to life while giving insight about her argument. Yablonovoskiy also tells us about his grandfather and his awful experience living under the soviet rule. He also tells us how his grandfather downplayed the fact that Yablonovoskiy was able to play two to three sports while balancing school by saying how hard he had it when he was younger. It also shows that he was grateful about living in America, no matter how much he has to complain about because it could be worse to the point where he could be living elsewhere dealing with hardships similar to those that his grandfather experienced. This is something I can relate to as well because both my parents were born in Sri Lanka and hearing stories that took place there, makes me so relived that I live in America and not back in the motherland.
