ENG 2100: Writing 1 with Jay Thompson

Crisleydi Paulino Reading response 11/30

    1. One thing I revised from my research based argument was changing my topic so that it corresponds with my sources. Originally, I wanted to write about the beauty standards in the 1980s to modern day. I was having a hard time finding sources with this specific information. So instead I decided to search beauty standards in general and got more insight on what other things affects society besides looks. Racism, sexuality, and mannequins was some of the things I found influence body image in our society. So my topic will now be how does restrictions in beauty standards affect people in our society.
    2. Academic intergrity is refers to quoting and paraphrasing at appropriate times. If you decide to paraphrase but most of it resembles the what’s in the source you can possibly be accused of plagiarizing. Essentially, you are taking credit for someone else’s work making it seem like you came up with that idea. This is why it is important to cite. When you use citation you are using someone else’s idea in your writing but you will not be accused of plagiarizing.
