- An example of Ethos is my essay was, “At that point I was happy, I think everyone was.” In this moment, I was trying to make the audience relate/agree with me on a certain level. An example of Pathos in my essay was, “I did not step into my school building, not one time my whole senior year, and the thought of that was depressing.” In this quote, I was expressed the feeling of depression in connection to not going to school. An example of Logos in my essay was, “I would wake up for class around 11am, do my class online, go back to sleep for a couple of hours, eat, then just stay up until 5am playing video games.” In this quote, I was explaining my reasoning for life feeling like a cycle.
- The song that I will be analyzing is “ILoveUIHateU” by Playboi Carti. This is one of Carti’s saddest and deepest songs when you really listen to what he is saying. He talks about how his drug addictions are getting to the better of him. One lyric that stands out to me is, “I mix all of problems with Prometh’ until I roll on my death bed.” In this lyric, Carti is explaining that he is being taken over by his addiction to Promethazine. Promethazine is an opioid that is used to make a drink called “Lean”. It is often mixed with sprite and it is known to be very addicting. Carti is showing that he is losing hope, and he doesn’t care about his addiction, because he says, “until i roll on my death bed.” This shows that he is willing to do drugs until he dies. The title of the song also shows his bipolar side, “ILoveYouIHateYou” is displayed in one word, without any spaces. This showcases that Carti’s feelings often switch up, and this is most likely due to his addiction to drugs.
- Today I realized the differences between a summary and an analysis. For me, a summary is just generally explaining what happened in a text, movie, show, etc. An Analysis is an in depth explanation of a certain moment or line in a text, that shows the deeper meaning of something. I realized this when I analyzed the song above, and went into detail about certain lyrics.

I noticed that this kind if lyricism as you pointed out in the Carti song is often used in modern day music unlike older music from the 80s or 90s. Perhaps you could expand more on this if you decide to write about another song in your analysis essay.
My thought process was the same when it came to the difference between summary and analysis. After this assignment, I was able to discover the difference too.
