- Ethos: the characteristic spirit of a culture. From my essay, I think an example of ethos is. “From Bengali to English, CRB street to faded Manhattan Time square road, and thirty-nine degrees Celsius to thirty-nine degrees Fahrenheit, I found a new environment and a new culture, a culture that not only reminded me of my old culture but perhaps influenced me to adapt to this new culture”. This is ethos since it constructively demonstrates two different cultures.
Pathos: A language that draws out feelings or emotions. From my essay, I think an example of Pathos is “You have it hard, I know. Remember, your entire family is here to help you. ” This is pathos since it portrays my dad’s inner feelings about me and his emotion with me.
Logos: a rhetorical or persuasive appeal to the audience’s logic and rationality. From my essay an example of Logos is “Even though I was in isolation from COVID, I always met with my teammates in zoom and we discussed our next year’s plan. Then we tried to maintain a routine to keep ourselves fit since fitness is very important for cricket. Most surprisingly, this year we won for the first time in the PSAL tournament and we became a champion team after 6 years of losing the last two finals”. This is an example of logos because this is how I logically keep the bond with my player during this pandemic.
2. For the analysis, I want to analyze one of the old songs named ‘The nights’ by Avicii. I think this song is best to annalyze Ethos, Pathos, and Logos. His father his idol who inspired him to live the life as it was remembered in his whole life. Also, this song demonstrates the good bond between son and father where the singer remembered his father while singing since his father had died. This is a good example of Pathos where emotions and feelings can be seen in the singer’s eyes in the video. However, this song also mentioned some ways how you live your life with fascinating things. And finally, Avicii’s father’s inspiration helps him to go forward in life with joy and happiness. His father was his childhood hero and his father is his idol when he became an adult. At the beginning of this song, we can find a bit example of ethos where he mentioned some characteristics of a culture. This song tells me and anyone who listens to live life without fear, not to care what others think, to live life the best you can, even in the kind of world we live in today. Others may try to put you down, but don’t let them get to you. No Matter what they call you, gay, four eyes, psychopath, retard, shorty, slut, bitch, it doesn’t matter. They are only putting you down because they feel like they are better than you.
3. I noticed one difference between annalyze and summery and that is summery is retell the whole story using a shortcut format while analyzing is a deep explanation of a text which help me to know more about it and clarifies the whole thin. Summery is a basic idea and analyzing I think a deep knowledge about the text we annalyze.
