- After reading Ede’s method for deciding when to quote summarize and paraphrase, I learned that there are so many other ways I could give credit to the author besides just simply quoting. Most importantly, now I know when is the best to use each method. I also learned that common knowledge, as well as widely available facts from different sources, don’t need to be acknowledged. Prior to reading this, I was unsure how to cite my sources properly. After reading it, I revised my paper and fixed the citations using the proper MLA citations that I learned from reading the articles.
- Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz define academic integrity as giving credit to the author when using the sources that they have discovered. Proper citation is more than an academic issue, but rather an ethical issue. How would you feel if you made a grand discovery but someone else stole it and got credit for it? All the time and effort and hard work you put into it will be left unnoticed and given to the other person instead. Plagiarism is a severe issue and should not be looked upon easily. However sometimes it may be hard to avoid and you may plagiarize without even noticing it, but one thing we can do to avoid it is to give as much credit to these authors as we can.

- One thing I decided to revise after reading Lisa Ede’s text was to paraphrase a quote/area I read from the website The Week, in regards to a point I was planning on bringing up. Ede suggested that when you want to use an idea/ fact stated in a article, paraphrasing let’s the essay flow a bit easier. I also added in a summary for an exhibit source instead of paraphrasing because I wanted to introduce the main idea of the article, not a specific section or idea. I also decided to use the idea of synthesizing information from Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz by revising how I used the Chesterton source and making it so that it more aligns and supports my claim, even though I used it as a counterargument source. Originally, that source had a bit of a disconnect and unimportance to it because it didn’t stay quite focused to my research question.
- Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz define Academic Integrity as a way to prove that you are knowledgeable about an academic area and able to represent that properly. This includes being able to use and cite sources the right way, when you are sharing an idea that wasn’t originally yours. Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz also see proper citation as an ethical issue because it’s about being respectful towards ones work and giving credit to them. The importance is in realizing that they deserve credit for an idea that they had that you are now using to support your own, its a moral thing. As important as proper citation is in an academic sense, you don’t let that drive your reasoning for doing so.

- In the ed’s method, Ede’s techniques for citing straightforwardly, rewording, or summing up, I understood that I don’t generally need to statement the creators’ definite words. I took a stab at rewording and summing up for one of my sections, and it just sounded more normal than citing. Nonetheless, I realize that citing is as yet significant when I need to introduce something captivating. Rewording or summing up such proof would detract from the significance of the first texts, and my article wouldn’t be as solid. I intend to sum up a little toward the finish of each section, yet realizing I can summarize a few thoughts from my sources is great since I realize it would make my composing somewhat more modern.
2. Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz say that scholastic uprightness is the point at which you give a writer credit when utilizing their thoughts in your composition. This can be giving credits for thoughts or even the composing style. They clarify that it’s a moral issue when they raise an illustration of how individuals will cheer you for giving credit to a creator. Scholarly trustworthiness is a moral issue since when you duplicate another person’s thoughts, you’re not recognizing the work that they did. This makes light of the creators’ work. Some might honestly think replicating somebody’s thoughts and not giving them credit will make their composing more grounded. Be that as it may, it’s the direct inverse. One can confront genuine results from appropriate, and there are many advantages to referring to your sources. It fortifies your ethos, which makes your paper more grounded.

- One thing that I realized that was very important was giving credit to the author or source that you are quoting from. One thing that I revised in my paper was quoting facts that were not widely known. I changed this due to reading Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz’s article. I also paraphrased more in my paper rather then directly quoting.
- Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz define Academic Intergiry as “doing your homework”. If you directly cite from a source, that means that you are well educated on the topic, and it shows that you understand what others are saying about the topic. Lastly, It shows that you are thankful for those that helped with their quotes in your writing.

- I have learned that factual evidence / sources do not need to be word for word from a book or a article etc you can parahpharse the line to make it fit better and give it the ability to flow with your argument. I used paraphrasing as a tool while revising my essay helped me narrow down certain qoutes and made it sound much better than just writting word for word what the auther said. Phraphrasing helps me pin point the key facts of a very long qoute and gives me the ability to leave out any none important facts. It is still extreamly important to qoute but the use of pharahsing helps alot in most situations.
- Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz state extramly important facts about academi c integrity. They sate how important it is to give the author credit for the wrok they have done and that you are using as a source. One of the first rules of writing is not to plagarise. Plagrising is the use of somones work without citing it or giving the author credit. plagarisim can be seen as a crime and face serius consquences. It is extreamly unethical to copy ones work and portray it as yours. Although it may seem like the easy way out to copy ones stong writing it is not allowed under any cirmumstances. When you state factual evidence from source and cite it, it proves you took time to reserch the topic and learn about while showing proper respect to the auther.

- After reading Ede’s methods for quoting directly, paraphrasing, or summarizing, I realized that I don’t always have to quote the authors’ exact words. I tried paraphrasing and summarizing for one of my paragraphs, and it just sounded more natural than quoting. However, I know that quoting is still important when I want to present something intriguing. Paraphrasing or summarizing such evidence would take away from the importance of the original texts, and my essay wouldn’t be as strong. I plan to summarize a little at the end of each paragraph, but knowing I can paraphrase some ideas from my sources is good because I know it would make my writing a little more sophisticated. Ede mentioned that it wouldn’t interrupt my writing flow, and I think that’s important. Also, some parts are too long to quote from, so as long as I summarize correctly, I think I’d be able to present two texts properly and compare or contrast their central arguments.
- Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz say that academic integrity is when you give an author credit when using their ideas in your writing. This can be giving credits for ideas or even the writing style. They explain that it’s an ethical issue when they bring up an example of how people will applaud you for giving credit to an author. Academic integrity is an ethical issue because when you copy someone else’s ideas, you’re not acknowledging the work that they did. This downplays the authors’ effort. Some may believe copying someone’s ideas and not giving them credit will make their writing stronger. However, it’s the complete opposite. One can face serious consequences from plagiarizing, and there are many benefits to citing your sources. It strengthens your ethos, which makes your essay stronger. Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz also mention that people will applaud you for giving the authors credit because it shows that you know enough about the topic. You can accidentally plagiarize without even realizing it, so remember where you got your information from.

- At first, I felt like my paper flowed well and was really good. After I looked it over and discussed it with professor Thompson I realized I was vague in some areas. Throughout my paper, there are terms used that many might not know what they mean. They can be defined for the actual meaning by most people, but in terms of muscle building, they can mean something totally different. So I went back and revised and gave a better explanation of the meaning of certain terms. For example, I used the term fluff which is basically the excess fat you gain while in a dirty bulk (when you eat all types of foods to get past your daily calorie intake). I didn’t give the description I just mentioned I just used it assuming people would know what it means.
- According to Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz, academic integrity is defined as giving your sources credit when using their information. Plagiarism happens most of the time when one isn’t careful. They may be trying to paraphrase an author but can’t think of any way to make it sound just as good as the source material. At this point, the individual should just quote the source instead of paraphrasing to avoid an ethical issue. One slip up and you can ruin your reputation as a writer. People will always second guess “Oh are these their words? or did they plagiarise again?”. This is something someone definitely does not want, so properly citing and giving authors credit will prevent any of this and strengthen your ethos.

- After reading Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz and familiarizing myself with Ede’s method. I revised the article ,I wanted to introduce and elaborated every idea. Instead of giving examples. So I made the beginning of the body paragraph a central idea. There are three in total, but these three ideas all support my theme. And move the citations to the end of each paragraph. Make the whole thing look more organized.
- Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz define Academic integrity is to give due trust to data authors. If a source is cited, it should be credited. It’s easy to be accused of plagiarism if it’s not. Moreover, academic integrity is not an academic issue, but an ethical one because. If a person inappropriately quotes another’s article without attribution. Say it’s your own article, then it’s an ethical issue.

- One thing I revised from my research based argument was changing my topic so that it corresponds with my sources. Originally, I wanted to write about the beauty standards in the 1980s to modern day. I was having a hard time finding sources with this specific information. So instead I decided to search beauty standards in general and got more insight on what other things affects society besides looks. Racism, sexuality, and mannequins was some of the things I found influence body image in our society. So my topic will now be how does restrictions in beauty standards affect people in our society.
- Academic intergrity is refers to quoting and paraphrasing at appropriate times. If you decide to paraphrase but most of it resembles the what’s in the source you can possibly be accused of plagiarizing. Essentially, you are taking credit for someone else’s work making it seem like you came up with that idea. This is why it is important to cite. When you use citation you are using someone else’s idea in your writing but you will not be accused of plagiarizing.

1-An aspect that I had edited within my paper was while I had summarized the otherisde of my argument. Which was the way a healthy use of Social Media looks like, and how it may benefit one’s mental health. The only reason for the summury was for a nice natural and smooth transition, instead of pulling a quotes or part of the paper. In addition, I also partly summarized What addiction look like from the perspective of one of the others. Also, I added on how the others authors also agree with him.
2-Both authors Ruszkiewicz and Lunsford, define academic integrity as giving rightful credit to the authors of sources. In addition they also find academic integrity as a ethical issue rather than an academic issue. For instance, plagiarizing can be an easy task if the authors work is not accurately cited. In addition, Ruszkiewicz and Lunsford both agree that accurate citation is an ethical dilemma. Simply due to the fact that if a writes improperly cites another’s work, you’re then claiming it as your own work.
