The workshop taught me a lot about having positive thoughts about everything. Everything has a good side to it and to think positively helps relieve the stress from the work in college. Also, it taught me that we should all help people. I didn’t realize it before, but doing the New York Cares Project actually made me feel better. It is a really good thing to show your support in the community we live in. The enrichment workshop helped me think positively about things I might not feel to happy about.

The enrichment workshop was a  great experience for me. At first, I did not think that It would be something important and that it would be boring. After listening to the speaker I realized that many of the things that he had to say were true. When you volunteer and help others it makes you feel good about yourself. I looked back at the times I had volunteered and the New York Cares Project and it made me realize how important it is to give back to society. One of the greatest feelings a person can have is self satisfaction and volunteering can help with this. I really liked the workshop and it inspired me to help others and volunteer more often.

The enrichment workshop I’ve attended was quite interesting to some extent. First off my first experience of looking through the window at the 10th floor of during the workshop was astounding. The view outside was amazing! The workshop helped thoroughly explain the required courses I must take during my next semester to move on. Also the sheet of paper the male adviser provided is really helpful because most of the required and additional courses are listed under labeled sections to choose from. I wouldn’t say that I’m inspired in any way from the workshop experience, but the event really helped out a lot. Also it was my first time using the elevator and eventually explore the tenth floor of the building. I fully appreciate the adviser’s effort in providing as much detail as possible in understanding a bit more about Baruch life.

College can be very stressful because of all the work that is assigned. My first semester in college was a bit stressful because all the teachers had assigned big papers and tests all at the same time. Most of the big assignments were due at around the same time so it took a lot of time and effort to complete. Other than all of the big tests and papers, my first semester in college was very simple and easy.

My experience in Baruch has been interesting. Coming here from Staten Island, I haven’t been around many different cultures. I can gladly say that changed. I here at Baruch, have many different friends. My best friends consist of an Albanian, a Indian, a Polish soccer player, an African American trumpet player, and someone who is the exact heritage as me. I now believe I am very diverse.

My group did the ny times project on domestic violence. We chose this topic since it has heavy effects on society and the people around us. Also, this issue has been increasing rapidly through times and more and more people are being affected by it each day. We chose this topic to bring awareness to this issue so that potential Baruch students wouldn’t be affected by Domestic Violence.

college is hard.

meme-b2s-collegecyclefacesCollege has been by far the most difficult process of my life thus far. I came in with the ambition of doing very well but like all student, have gradually become less and less motivated throughout the semester. During my midterms, I received some grades that really shocked me, and during group work I definitely cringed like yao ming in the photo. During my breaks I am always care free and when the semester starts I am always optimistic and ready to do well. Unfortunately that doesn’t stay very long.

Basically the psychology of what has happened to me is that the ambition of going into college and doing well always consumes me in the beginning, but that is just the product of my underestimation of the difficulty of the courses I would be taking. I guess things like this happen but it devalues my motivation in school, I hope next semester I’ll be able to do better.

Focus 2 Test

1. I didn’t really learn anything. I had to do a lot of these in High School, so I knew what to expect. I was getting the same answers as I got back then.

2. They don’t really change anything since I already knew what to expect.

3. It just confirmed that I chose the correct school. I was interested in the Business/Finance/Accounting majors

I never had to study for tests in High School. College forced me to take time out of my day and focus on studying. It was extremely annoying at first but I have gotten used to it. I now feel weird when I have a no assignments due for the next day. It feels like I’m forgetting to do something.

My First Semester

student-sleepingOne of the toughest adjustments for me this far in college is the length of the classes. I’m used to classes being less than an hour because of high school. It is really difficult to pay attention in class for an hour and a half. I find myself falling asleep a lot in some of my classes. I try my best to stay awake but eventually I just give in. I find myself falling asleep mostly in classes where there is just a lecture the entire time. I find myself still trying to adjust to the length of classes and not falling asleep. I think I will miss something really important one day because of sleeping.
