It was my first day at Baruch, and I had no idea what to expect. I had heard so many rumors about college life, but they were just that rumors. I looked at my schedule and proceeded to take the elevator up to the fifth floor. I walked into class, but since I didn’t see anyone I knew I took the first empty seat I saw. I was nervous and excited at the same time. It was my first day at college, a new adventure, but yet here I was sitting alone. Then I started to panic, what if I’m in the wrong room and I miss my very first college class. Since I got to class twenty minutes early this panic continued for quite a while, but then finally class started. My teacher was so nice and I finally realized I was in the right room. Once class ended I found some friends I had met at convocation day, and at this point I started to calm down.

Baseball Monologue
Practice, practice, practice. This is a motto most of us have heard since we were kids. Growing up I idolized baseball players and always wanted to be just like them. This was the first time i heard the expression practice makes perfect from my father. We would practice hitting, fielding, and pitching in the local park. I remember thinking during one of our practice sessions once I start playing I am going to be the best kid on the field. However, reality hits hard. During my first year playing for an actual league in fifth grade I was not the best, I was not even average. I was the worst kid on the team. I got severely discouraged and did not want to play anymore. My dad would not let me quit. He kept making practice and convinced to play again next year. Due to all the work I put into training I drastically improved. It was during my third year playing for the team that all the hard work payed off. I was the star of this team. Whenever I came to bat the other team was scared to pitch to me. The crowning moment was the championship game. Up by two runs in the last inning the team called for me to pitch. I was so nervous i walked the base loaded. My coach came out and told to calm down, all I had to do was do what I did all year. I then proceeded to strike out the next two batters. Two outs, up by two, the bases loaded, and the other teams best hitter stepping up to the plate. I threw the pitch and the ball was hit right to me, which i caught to end the game. While I might not be the bet player around, I hope i can make the Baruch baseball team and be an asset to the team.
Fro Playlist
Music is used for many purposes. It can be used to make us feel a certain way, celebrate an event, or even to help us get through a tough. When trying to describe myself, I found that music can be very effective. The songs I show show the person I am and try to be.
For starters, I feel the song Happy by Pharrell Williams is a very accurate song to describe me.Those who know say I always have a smile on my face. I try to share my happiness with those around and make them happy as well. This theme is also shown in another song I choose, Good Life by OneRepublic. This song tells us that while we must work hard in life, it is a waste if we do not enjoy it. I feel this to be very true and I try to practice it. While I work very hard both in and out of school, I also make time to enjoy life. I do not feel life should only be about getting money, which is talked about in the son Money by Pink Floyd. The use of sarcasm in this song correctly tells what I feel. Just because you have an abundance of money does not mean you will be happy. Another trait i fell i have is that I am a good, reliable friend. The song You’ve Got a Friend in Me by Michael Buble shows this. If any of my friends ever need help with anything at all I am there to help. I feel thats what a good friendship is two people will try at all means to help other the other person. Aloe Blacc’s The Man is also a very good song that describes me. This saying means that you are have or are on pave to doing great things. I have always been a good student and people often say this about me.
A trait i feel many songs talk about that describe me is resiliency. I will never back down from a challenge no matter how difficult which is why the song Won’t Back Down by Eminem is a perfect fit. We must not run a challenge we face but rather do everything we can to try and overcome it. I learn from these challenges which make me stronger as person. The song Stronger by Kanye West say, “that that don’t kill me can only make me stronger” which shows how I learn from the hard obstacles that I may in my life time. I feel that the reason I have these trains is from my upbringing. I was born and raised in New York, so the song Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z applies to me. The song says, ‘If i can make it here i can make it anywhere”. Finally, the song Human by Christina Perri shows that while I may be strong I still have my flaws and week points. I am human just like anyone else and have moments of weakness.
