I’m from Ecuador in South America. I am proud of where I come from and this is probably one of the most important things to know about me.

Antonio Valencia Antonio Valencia of Ecuador attacks during the International Friendly match between The Netherlands and Ecuador at The Amsterdam Arena on May 17, 2014 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Being that I’m Hispanic, it sort of implies that my favorite sport is soccer. It is one of my biggest passions of my life. When Ecuador was knocked out of the World Cup this summer, I was devastated.

This is Pier 40. You can usually find me here at least once a week playing soccer with my friends. Playing soccer is my biggest way to get my mind off of things.

I live in Astoria, Queens. This is a typical picture from “The Strip” in Astoria Park. I’ve lived here my whole life and I like it a lot actually.

Monsignor McClancy is my old high school. I had a blast and I believe I wouldn’t be the person I am today if I didn’t go there. Luckily it was not far from where I live so that helped my liking high school as well.

This is a picture of the old airport in Quito, Ecuador. I like to travel a lot and I loved going back to Ecuador every summer. I loved being there since it was definitely something different from New York City.

This is a picture of one of the biggest stadium in Ecuador. I would always go there during the summer to see my favorite team play or the Ecuadorian National Team play. Going to see soccer games live is one of my favorite past times.

Galak is my favorite chocolate ever. It was always something that my grandmother or relatives would send me from Ecuador. It reminds me of the good times I’ve had while being there.

The first song I chose is from my favorite Blink-182 album.  My tattoo is of this album artwork.  The second song I chose is my favorite song by a band that is from Indianapolis where I grew up.  The third song is one that my boyfriend showed me and after I listened to it I started listening to more Queens of the Stone Age.  The fourth song is by one of my favorite bands, Alkaline Trio, who one of my good friends introduced me to.  The fifth song is on there because it brings the rock.  I listen to the fifth song everyday on the Subway on my way back from class.  Odalisque by the Decemberists is a song that me and my sister always used to listen to in the car when we drove together so it means a lot to me now that I am so far away from her.  Heaven Beside You was the first Alice in Chains song I ever heard and it completely changed the way that I look at music in general.  I saw them play it live this summer and it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.  The last song is on here because it is the one song I think everyone in the world should listen to.

imageI’m from Astoria, Queens and this picture is of Astoria Park’s pool. Astoria is really chill and full of different ethnicities which makes it such a popular place to go.

My favorite place in the world is Disney World. I been going since I was a fetus and it is the best place in the world. I’m a huge Disney feen and a majority of my family vacations are to Disney.

I have a mini obsession with tigers. They’re so adorable and fierce. If I could have any pet I’d choose a tiger cub.

imageMy favorite food is breakfast food like this picture I took at IHOP. There are so many options and I’m getting hungry just writing about it.

This is my dog Moose. We are kinda best friends but I’m pretty sure he has a crush on me since he won’t leave me alone. He’s very cute and creepily smart.

imageThis is a picturing of me going head first down a 8 story waterside. It represents how I sometimes do things without thinking about the consequences which is never a good idea.

imageThis is a picture of me sleeping which was taken by my friend. I have self diagnosed myself with a sleeping disorder because I can fall asleep anywhere and I’m always taking naps.

imageThis is a picture I took of rain in the city. Rainy weather is the best weather especially for staying home and napping. Id rather it be raining than sunny any day.

My first image is of Eminem, a very successful rapper that I enjoy listening to because his songs are very relatable and my favorite music genre is rap. My second image is of a laptop because I do everything on my laptop and I also use my laptop as one of my main sources of entertainment. My next photo is of a Dominican flag because  I am Dominican and I really enjoy living culture where family means so much and the food is always good. I also have a photo of a car because I really enjoy driving around in the city and hope to one day have a nice sports car that I can drive anywhere. As can be seen in my next photo I am a big Yankees fan, have been since I can remember, and I enjoy playing watching baseball. I also have a image of a video game control because I enjoy playing video games with friends and family and its one of my favorite pass times. I have the color red because red is the best color in the world and it just makes stand out which is always nice. Lastly I have a photo representing cold because I love the cold, I think it feels nice and being hot/warm is just disgusting.

*I could not upload the photos for some reason so I emailed to Jeff

A World Where Roses Bloom

I’m a person with many interests and desires in life, this shows mostly in the music I listen to. Music to me is a way of expressing myself, a way of cheering myself up, and it’s mostly the reason I I have an emotional connection with most songs I usually listen to. What you see, is a small portion of what I would listen to everyday.

As an international student, I sometimes need a reminder of home, of memories and friends and the first four songs in my playlist represent a part of those reminders. These used to be our go to songs with my best friends, we’d listen to them every time we got together. We were so obsessed that even when we went out we would make the places we were regulars at to play the songs we wanted to and they often did. Especially, Escape by Jack Johnson became “our song” with my best friend and now I play it to feel as if she was around and sometimes this even helps me cope with a bad day.

The next three songs are my go to “feeling good” songs, if I’m feeling down or just tired these songs always seem to put a smile on my face. Any song by Ed Sheeran is a perfect example of this, but I put in I’m a mess because the melody is soothing and even though it’s a song about being confused, it somehow makes me feel better.

The last four songs (including Feeling Good by Nina Simone which is a part of the above category too), are those I like to sing. La Vie en Rose has recently been my favourite because it is a cute story to tell since it is a story of a woman in love. A little fall of rain on the other hand, is from my favourite musical “les miserables” and the second biggest song of my favourite character, Eponine. My dream is to be her on stage one day.

And finally, thank you for the music (originally by ABBA but this cover speaks to me more),as the songs says I’ve been singing since I can remember. Music is the biggest aspect of my life and it is personal and emotional for me, even movie scores are moving and meaningful if listened to with a calm ear. Overall, music is my life and my whole library is a long and detailed soundtrack of my life.

Freshman Seminar Post 1 (due: 17.09.2014)

Hey guys!

1. My first picture is what is most important to me, my family. I have moved many times and, of course, my family is always constant.

2. My friends are also really important to me. I was very fortunate to find a couple of really honest and valuable friends this past year. We got really close really fast and they helped me get through school.

3. Next is the fact that I love, and I mean LOVE to travel!!!!!!! I can’t imagine not going places and having new experiences!

4. My senior year I finally found something that felt really confident about (sports wise). I hated sports before and then I made volleyball cuts. I was so excited! Volleyball is really important to me because I grew confident in doing things that were out of my comfort zone.

5. Music! I love it! Who doesn’t? This pic I have is of a viola. I learned how to play and instantly loved it! Of course I love other kinds of music too, I will listen to anything!

6. Next is movies! I don’t watch TV so movies is the next best thing! I chose this particular picture because my roommate and I are going to see it on Friday Night!

7. Since I don’t watch TV, and I don’t always watch movies, I always read. Where I used to live, you would reed in your free time too… (it never stops raining). I LOVE to get lost in a book! This picture is of my favorite series at the moment. (It always changes).

8. Finally, as far as character goes, this is probably my most important trait I think I have. I am very cultured. Maybe no so much in the average teenage American culture, but other cultures in general. These pictures symbolize where I am from and where I have been. I am Hispanic and I have lived in Europe with a large international community… that’s pretty cultured, I’d say.

I had LOTS of trouble getting my PPtP on the Blog so, here is a link to my Prezi which is exactly the same thing:

Musical Playlist – Bibi Morium

So I made a 10 song playlist that speaks to who I am.

The first song is called Master of Tides by Lindsey Stirling and it’s completely instrumental. I used to play the violin but unfortunately I’ve dropped the habit. I always listen to Lindsey Stirling, her music is what inspired me to start playing, and I still listen to it. This one is my favorite track.

The second is How To Save A Life by The Fray. I mostly enjoy this song because of the lyrics and because I kind of see myself with the protagonist. If there’s a problem I usually won’t fight it, I’d make a list of problems and so forth and try to mitigate myself out of the situation, and I guess I would also like to save a life? I don’t know.

The third and fourth are both by Fall Out Boy, one of my favorite bands. Light Em’ Up and The Phoenix I enjoy purely because I like the rhythm of the song, nothing great.

The fifth, I’ll Make A Man Out Of You, is from one of my favorite Disney movies, Mulan. I enjoyed the song because well it was basically about making a man out of a woman, and I found that ironic and interesting at the same time.

The sixth, Hall Of Fame would be that inspirational song everyone has. I obviously want to be successful, but not income-wise. I just want to be known and show people that I can be successful, and that anyone can.

The seventh, Black or White is my favorite song by Michael Jackson. My older sister is a huge fan of him so it kind of rubbed off on me. I enjoy this song because it speaks to how I feel about racism.

The eighth song, Try, portrays how I feel about the way media and others can make us want to be someone else and look like someone else without even taking into consideration what we would like to do. I feel there’s a pressure to look a certain way – for both men and women – and that ultimately changes who we are without our opinion.

The ninth song, Rude, isn’t one of my favorite songs, and sometimes it can actually get really tiring when you hear it too much, but it perfectly depicts – in a comical way – my future. My parents are very culturally conservative so I think it’s obvious who they would want me to marry, etc, etc. And then that also ties into other things. Becoming the traditional Asian doctor, and being a part-time engineer are among those other things. (Business is way better, though.)

The last song is an Indian song, from not my favorite Indian movie (that would be Patiala House, you guys should watch it by the way). The reason I chose this song is just to give a glimpse at my culture, and it is also the song my cousins most recently performed to. I love watching them dance, because I am incapable of preforming a single dance move, and this song’s performance was among my favorite.
