1508359_713228225361680_1724747081_nFirst off, my band has played a huge part in the last few years of my life and have all been great friends. I love to make music as well as hang out with them and we’re all very close. Hopefully college won’t change how much we can get together and practice.

Another large part of my life right now is my martial arts practice. My cousin and I have been training together this past year and I’ve really enjoyed it. I never had a close relationship with him until now that we’re training together so that’s also something I’m happy about.

Forest Hills, the place I grew up and still live, plays a big part in who I am today. The community and experiences I’ve had living there has helped shape my character and hobbies in more ways than I can remember.

360_1 (1)The gym is one of my favorite places to be. I’ve met many of my friends at the gym and working out is something I truly enjoy. It’s a great feeling when you push yourself and become stronger physically as well as mentally

stepbrothers

Another thing that is important in my life is my relationship with my two brothers, Lucas and Christian. Being the oldest, it’s hard to have to be a constant example.

For a long time as a young teen, I struggled with my weight–having to deal with bullying because of how skinny I was. This definitely took a huge toll on me growing up and is the majority of the reason why I took up weightlifting as a hobby.

I love music. If I could pick one of my hobbies to keep and have to give up all of the others, I’d have to choose playing/listening to music because I couldn’t go without it for sure. One of my favorite bands, Citizen, actually played on the same stage as my band did and that was pretty big for me

This picture is of my cat Tom and kitten named Nina. I also own another kitten and a bunny. I love animals!! And I love mine to death, I can’t imagine my life without them.
My friends are very important to me. They’re fun, fun to be with, and can always make me laugh.
I consider working out a big part of my life. Recently I haven’t had the time to go to the gym, so usually I just ride my bike for hours or go on a run.
In my spare time home, I like to watch this series called Dexter. It’s a crime thriller which is kind of creepy, but at least it doesn’t bore me!
When I’m out with friends or family, I am usually the one to try new foods and odd things. I like to try different things from other cultures, and also because I love food.
In my subway ride to school, or in the car, or even in a restaurant I like listening to music. Even if I just have the radio, it’s relaxing and mind-clearing.
Everyone loves the summer, but my life is all about the winter. I love everything about it – the snow, rain, temperature, the cable knit sweaters, but definitely not the delays due to weather conditions.
Although it’s a shitty job, I don’t mind working at McDonald’s. I love my coworkers who make working there fun for me, and my job is a big part of my life.

My first song, All the right moves, somehow always gives me the feeling that no matter how good you are, or how awesome you may be, there will always be another individual that will take you down. It brings a quote into mind from one of my professors “Big fish eats little fish, but there is a bigger fish around the corner”
My second song, The fighter, symbolizes my super awesome will to fight. There may be a bigger fish around the corner, but I can just always swim away and eat a lot of smaller fishes and then come back to eat the bigger fish.
My third song, one that everyone has undoubtedly heard, Hall of Fame by The Script, is one of my most favorite songs. When I listen to it I always have the hope that I will, one day, be standing in the hall of fame wether it be in Fencing(my favorite sport) or in other endeavors.
My fourth song, Life is a Highway, represents the thought that even though it would be nice to be famous in the future and have money, the ride there can be just as enjoyable. It reminds me to slow down and enjoy the little things.
My fifth song, Payphone, actually brings a bit of my romantic life into the picture. When I listen to it I remember all of the good times that I’ve had with my girlfriend and I feel like if I were in that situation, I would definitely spend all of my change trying to contact her.
My sixth song, Superheros by The Script(which came out recently), reminds me to do something great when I have a chance to. I am not a victim of horrible circumstances, but it still doesn’t mean that I don’t have a super hero in me just waiting to come out.
My seventh song, Waiting for the end, is a song that sort of brings things into perspective for me. Where I am is not at the beginning or the end, but in between, and that means that I still have work to do to get to the end.
My eighth song, Wiggle, actually has no significance to me lyrics-wise as all the previous songs had, but it’s beat and comical delivery reminds me to have a fun side, and be a fun guy.
My ninth song, The best day of my life, brings me to treat everyday as it’s going to be the best day of my life. I would rarely be in a bad mood because this song always gives me a special boost.
My tenth song, Airplanes, is a song that gives me hope for the future, a song that I interpret as meaning: we all have our down days, but we can wish for better ones, and then fulfill our own wish as we live our daily lives. That’s why it’s so great. And Hayley Williams was really good in this song too.

brooklyn-bridge

Brooklyn, i would write how i feel about my home ground but i would exceed the 500 word limit. Plain and simply, its where i was born, where i’ve grown up,  and its where i plan to spend the rest of my life in.

johnny-bravo

Johnny bravo, whether its at work or new people i meet, i always get this comparison, only 2-3 weeks after the initial haircut though, when it gets tall, fluffy and voluminous.

s5

I am your prototypical 2014 teenager. i never leave the house without it. My galaxy is life.

bagel

You’re not considered a true New yorker if you cant go a week without a bagel, i sometimes cant even go a few days without one.

ecua

Parents immigrated from Ecuador to find a better life in the united states. Typical, but i am certainly proud of being Ecuadorian and cant wait to go back and visit.

ball

I can accredit a good amount of life long friends, memories, and experiences from soccer. My life until i turned 18 was all about soccer, i used to have ambitions of one day making it pro, but priorities have changed. Ill just stick to being just a casual park player.

paps

Everything i do is for my parents. They gave me everything they could and never asked for anything in return. I cant wait till one day i can tell them both they can stop working, its my turn to take care of them.

job

Even though i had just started working there a few months ago, i have already worked hard through the ranks to be a server. By many this is considered as one of the better jobs to have as a college kid. It may sound corny, but outback steakhouse i probably going to change my life.

I’m from Ecuador in South America. I am proud of where I come from and this is probably one of the most important things to know about me.

Antonio Valencia Antonio Valencia of Ecuador attacks during the International Friendly match between The Netherlands and Ecuador at The Amsterdam Arena on May 17, 2014 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Being that I’m Hispanic, it sort of implies that my favorite sport is soccer. It is one of my biggest passions of my life. When Ecuador was knocked out of the World Cup this summer, I was devastated.

This is Pier 40. You can usually find me here at least once a week playing soccer with my friends. Playing soccer is my biggest way to get my mind off of things.

I live in Astoria, Queens. This is a typical picture from “The Strip” in Astoria Park. I’ve lived here my whole life and I like it a lot actually.

Monsignor McClancy is my old high school. I had a blast and I believe I wouldn’t be the person I am today if I didn’t go there. Luckily it was not far from where I live so that helped my liking high school as well.

This is a picture of the old airport in Quito, Ecuador. I like to travel a lot and I loved going back to Ecuador every summer. I loved being there since it was definitely something different from New York City.

This is a picture of one of the biggest stadium in Ecuador. I would always go there during the summer to see my favorite team play or the Ecuadorian National Team play. Going to see soccer games live is one of my favorite past times.

Galak is my favorite chocolate ever. It was always something that my grandmother or relatives would send me from Ecuador. It reminds me of the good times I’ve had while being there.

Freshman Seminar Playlist

The genre of music that I chose might seem funny to some, but to others, it’s a way of life. Pop music is the best kind of music there is, and I can’t imagine how gloomy my life would be without it. Those endless repeating beats and verses. Those vain, shallow and superficial lyrics, focusing only on people’s physical appearances rather than focusing on trivial things such as character and morals. Radio music is the future, and anyone trying to stop it is only slowing it down. I dream of a day when we all listen to the same catchy beats and all imitate and take example from the same remarkable artists (i.e Katy Perry, T-Swift etc.) Embrace the pop, embrace the conformism.

The first song I chose is from my favorite Blink-182 album.  My tattoo is of this album artwork.  The second song I chose is my favorite song by a band that is from Indianapolis where I grew up.  The third song is one that my boyfriend showed me and after I listened to it I started listening to more Queens of the Stone Age.  The fourth song is by one of my favorite bands, Alkaline Trio, who one of my good friends introduced me to.  The fifth song is on there because it brings the rock.  I listen to the fifth song everyday on the Subway on my way back from class.  Odalisque by the Decemberists is a song that me and my sister always used to listen to in the car when we drove together so it means a lot to me now that I am so far away from her.  Heaven Beside You was the first Alice in Chains song I ever heard and it completely changed the way that I look at music in general.  I saw them play it live this summer and it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.  The last song is on here because it is the one song I think everyone in the world should listen to.

imageI’m from Astoria, Queens and this picture is of Astoria Park’s pool. Astoria is really chill and full of different ethnicities which makes it such a popular place to go.

My favorite place in the world is Disney World. I been going since I was a fetus and it is the best place in the world. I’m a huge Disney feen and a majority of my family vacations are to Disney.

image

I have a mini obsession with tigers. They’re so adorable and fierce. If I could have any pet I’d choose a tiger cub.

imageMy favorite food is breakfast food like this picture I took at IHOP. There are so many options and I’m getting hungry just writing about it.

This is my dog Moose. We are kinda best friends but I’m pretty sure he has a crush on me since he won’t leave me alone. He’s very cute and creepily smart.

imageThis is a picturing of me going head first down a 8 story waterside. It represents how I sometimes do things without thinking about the consequences which is never a good idea.

imageThis is a picture of me sleeping which was taken by my friend. I have self diagnosed myself with a sleeping disorder because I can fall asleep anywhere and I’m always taking naps.

imageThis is a picture I took of rain in the city. Rainy weather is the best weather especially for staying home and napping. Id rather it be raining than sunny any day.

My first image is of Eminem, a very successful rapper that I enjoy listening to because his songs are very relatable and my favorite music genre is rap. My second image is of a laptop because I do everything on my laptop and I also use my laptop as one of my main sources of entertainment. My next photo is of a Dominican flag because  I am Dominican and I really enjoy living culture where family means so much and the food is always good. I also have a photo of a car because I really enjoy driving around in the city and hope to one day have a nice sports car that I can drive anywhere. As can be seen in my next photo I am a big Yankees fan, have been since I can remember, and I enjoy playing watching baseball. I also have a image of a video game control because I enjoy playing video games with friends and family and its one of my favorite pass times. I have the color red because red is the best color in the world and it just makes stand out which is always nice. Lastly I have a photo representing cold because I love the cold, I think it feels nice and being hot/warm is just disgusting.
