The first semester at college was a matter of adjustment for me. As someone who came from a different educational system, it took me some time to adjust to the US system of education. Coming from a bilingual Brazilian school, I found it hard grasping many concepts in lectures and adjusting to the method of studying for different kinds of subjects. I also got to know a lot about the recruitment process at large firms via attending many corporate events and getting know countless people here at Baruch who have been involved in the corporate world in their internships. At the same time, it also broadened my horizons a lot as I was able to see and experience different things. Additionally, this semester has also taught me what to expect from academics at Baruch College and how to deal with the course load I get and how to balance work and extra curricular activities. Alongside the adjustment factor, I also got to meet many new people from whom I have learned a lot and vice versa. In a nutshell, this semester has been nothing but a period of adjustment for me since I came from a different sort of system of education in a different country.
