I think that these pictures are a good representation of who I am. The first picture is of a person biking on  the Manhattan bridge. I’ve done this several times and I love biking. Every time I bike, I feel as if I am actually myself and don’t think about anything else other then biking. The second picture is of my high school, Brooklyn Tech. The 4 years I’ve spent there really make me who I am today. High school was a great experience. The next picture is our graduation. There were around 1,400 students in the graduating class and I’m glad to call myself a Tech Alumni. The picture of the car is a toy that I had to make in my engineering class back in Tech. I had the best time making it and that was the  final product. The next picture is of me and my friends on the Ferris wheel. These friends are always there for me when I need them. Asos is a brand that I shop at. I have watched Disney all my life. Since I was young till this day I still watching Disney movies. Computers has become a big part in my life. I use it on a day to day basis and its hard to get things done without one.

Alright so hopefully everyone gets an idea of what I’m like and what my interests after this post. A lot of my best pictures are supposedly from prom, but I guess a lot of people’s are. Anyways, these photos represent some of the most cherished memories I have of high school, and the group of people I surrounded myself with throughout the 4 years. My name is Kinza Ali, and I was born and raised in East Meadow, NY (Long Island). In the first picture, it’s me and my all time best friend Amreen. We’ve known each other since we were three years old and have been the greatest friends since. This picture was taken during graduation day, and also the same day she was leaving for NYU. Thank god she’s one subway stop away, otherwise I don’t know what I would do without her. The next few pictures are from prom with the greatest friends that I made during my four years. The first one starting with Eli; he is literally one of the funniest people ever. I’m so glad I got to know him. He enlisted in the army, so I don’t get to speak to him that much anymore. The next one is Gabe; literally the coolest and nicest person ever. He’s so big on politics, and you can debate with him for hours. He really got me into debating (model congress). He’s currently representing Cornell, and doing big things. The next one (the picture with 3 people), is with me, Rheba, and Eli. Rheba goes to Binghamton, sigh. No, but she’s crazy smart and one of the greatest friends I had. All of my good friends clearly went separate ways, and I miss them all, hopefully we get to see each other soon. The next few pictures are from concerts that I’ve been to, starting with the heartthrob Justin Timberlake. Honestly, don’t get me started about Justin Timberlake because I just love him that much. I promise you I’m not that annoying obsessed fan girl, but I do like him a whole lot. Anyways, I saw him live in barclays center, brooklyn in november last year in his 20/20 experience tour. I got pretty good tickets, but still wish I was closer. I have so many favorite songs, but my all time favorites are definitely  SexyBack, Lovestoned, and My Love. The next concert I went to was Onerepublic, with the script & american authors. To be honest, I really just went for the script. I like onerepublic, but never wanted to see them live. I went with one of my close friends, Saher. We both love the same genre of music. Next is graduation, and it represents how happy bittersweet high school graduation is. Even though I’ll miss it and all the memories, it’s time to move on and look forward to what the future offers. And lastly, the picture of me and my older brother. We’re 7 years apart, but honestly have become closer than ever. He’s always looking out for me, and I appreciate everything he does.

Hi, my name is Christine and this is my first freshman seminar post so I’ll tell a little bit about me. I am an Asian American girl who loves many things some of which are in these pictures I have posted. I LOVE animals and if was up to me I would own a variety of pets but I cannot because of my allergies. So as far as my allergies are concerned I cannot have any animals that have fur and that is one terrible part of my life but I am learning to deal with this. This is why I own parakeets and I love my parakeets, my parakeets are named Blues Clues and Asia (from left to right). I also have a wonderful friend that I consequently met in high school and later found out that we went to the same elementary school. We met under weird conditions because I remembered talking to her first and I remembered saying “I know you from somewhere,” and from there on we became best friends (as seen in the black and white picture).  Then comes along my graduation day, the day that I end a  chapter in my book and start a new one, where I knew that I had to fend for myself in college and for the rest of my life. What I really love about the summer vacation is the fact that no matter what the family has gone through, the tough and rough times in that year, we always plan a family vacation where we go on vacation together to reconnect and have fun together. In that family vacation I can see my grandma and my mother enjoy themselves and have fun because they deserve it for all they have done for the family. These are only some of the few things that I love and I believe that I cannot live without because these picture show some of the things I treasure the most and what influenced me to become who I am today.

*Insert Creative Title That Makes Me Sound Deep Here*

http://grooveshark.com/playlist/FRO+Playlist/101077128

1) Lose Yourself – Eminem
2) Renegade – Eminem (feat. JAY Z)
3) My Love – Justin Timberlake (feat. T.I.)
4) Safe and Sound – Capitol Cities
5) Click Click Click – Nasri
6) Ain’t No Mountain High Enough – Marvin Gaye
7) Miss Independent – Ne-Yo
8) Can’t Tell Me Nothing – Kanye West
9) Good Life – Kanye West (feat. T-Pain)
10) Who Gon Stop Me – Jay Z (feat. Kanye West)
Who am I, I’m the type of person who would keep the word count to a minimum on an assignment like this. I think that in a world where everyone is so exposed, the best thing you can become is a mystery. I’m not one to share my character on a something as simple as a blog post and frankly, it would take to long, obviously you can see there’s a bit of arrogance mixed in there but I promise it only gets better. To start off with this playlist I chose Eminem’s song “Lose Yourself” because I definitely seize my opportunities which is really the only way to get what you want, I feel like this song explains the beginning of my journey to success. On top of that “Renegade” was added to the list because unlike many other people i’m not afraid to say what I want to say even if it doesn’t conform with society’s standards. The next five songs highlight that up in the clouds romantic, so hopefully you can find true love and have millions in your bank account at the same time. After that, “Can’t Tell Me Nothin'” is more of an insight to my philosophy rather than my arrogance. Sure money can’t buy happiness but I believe in order to experience life at its fullest one must be wealthy. You need money to travel the world, try new things, drive fast cars, etc. and that song highlights my feelings towards that limitation put on us. “Good Life” would be the part where I actually become successful and gain the ability to break free of those previously stated limitations. To top it all off, “Who Gon’ Stop Me” is really my way of saying that nothing can get in my way when it comes to my goals.

Hi my name is Bryler Paige. I am a 17 year old young man from Brooklyn, Ny. I believe that these 10 songs best describe me as a person. My life is very unusual because I make decisions or are presented with opportunities that many others are not. For example, I skipped first grade and now I’m always a year advanced in my education. I am very smart, and very ambitious. My dream to get a million dollars and maintain it for me and my family. I am gentlemen that treats women with the respect that they deserve. And last but not least I am a very family oriented person, I want my family to do good before I even do good.

In this slideshow, I have included various pictures throughout my years in high school.  The first picture was taken at the Tunnel to Towers run in New York City.  I participated in the key club in my high school in which we performed various works of community service.  The second picture is of me and my family on our annual trip to Cape May.  Ever since I was born, my family has gone on vacation to Cape May.  We always make so many good memories while we are there.  The third picture is again with my family when we recently went to see the musical Rock of Ages.  My family is one of the most important things in my life.  They have always been by my side supporting me throughout my entire life.  The fourth picture was taken at the Breast Cancer Walk in Staten Island.  One of my very close friends at the time had unfortunately lost her mother to breast cancer.  In order to show our support, me and a bunch of my friends joined her team in the walk to remember her mother.  The fifth picture was taken at the induction into the National Honor Society in my sophomore year of high school.  Many of my friends and I had the privilege of being involved in this amazing organization.  The sixth picture includes me and my best friend of all time at our high school graduation.  We have known each other since we were 3 years old.  After being together in school for so many years, it was extremely hard to go our separate ways for college.  My final two pictures were taken at my senior prom.  I was blessed to be able to spend this night with so many good friends.  We all had the time of our lives that night and with we could go back.

One, dancing is my passion. I actually wrote my college essay on dancing, it’s just that much of an integral part of my life. So, of course, when I saw the prompt for this post, I knew I absolutely had to do a dance video. I’m trained in Bharatanatyam, which is a classical dance form of South India, but I also like to do modern western dance styles as well. Both the dance styles, the two different songs, and the two outfits I wear in this video, I think embodies me as a whole. I have an immense pride for my culture, and at the same time I love being “American” (take that as you will). My dad sometimes jokes that I’m an American Born Confused Desi, but I’m not confused. I’m extremely comfortable and proud of both parts of me and without one or the other, I’m not “Suswana.”

Sokol Sheri

Hopefully after everyone sees my post, you will get a better understanding about what I’m about and where I come from. A lot of these photos are from prom for some reason haha. In the first photo you can see me and two of my very close friends, Lionel and Andy. I come from Susan Wagner High School and in Susan Wagner our senior class was extremely close and we still are. In photos 2, 3, and 5 you also see me along with a lot of my close friends. In photo 2 I’m posing at prom with my friends Jordan, Kelvin, and my best friend Nick (located all the way on the right). I’ve known Nick since I’ve been in first grade. I can pretty much consider him my brother we’ve been through it all together. In photo 3, I’m taking a picture with my really good friends Zarr(first name Nick), Tyler, and Kevin. I miss Zarr and Kevin immensely and they’re turning up at Oneonta without me haha. I can’t wait to go up again for Halloween. In photo 5, me and Lionel are at Graduation. Graduation was a bitter sweet day. I would do anything to relive High School with my bestfriends. In photo 4, I’m seen on a jet ski in Cancun. I went to Cancun for Spring Break and I don’t know I just found the picture to be pretty cool lol. Picture 6 is a picture of me and my prom date, Karolina. It was raining on prom day so she forced me to hold up her dress as we walked inside -_-.  Pictures 7,8, and 9 are all pictures of me and my family. In picture 7, you see me and my father on prom day. Guys a stud haha. I owe everything I know in life to my father and my mother and I promise not to let them down. Picture 8 is a picture of me and my brother. His name is Rezar. We are exact opposites, yet we get along so well. We are always there for each other no matter what. Picture 8 was taken on our birthday. In picture 9, you see a photo of me, my brother, my mother, and my grandparents. This photo was taken in the city during my grandparent’s first visit to the country. I love my grandparents like crazy and I’ll always be a “mamas boy” for my mother and grandmother. My grandfather served in the army in Albania. I have all the respect in the world for that man and I miss him like crazy. The final photo is a picture of my favorite basketball player, Dwyane Wade. I’ve been a Miami Heat fan my whole life, and even though LeBron left us to go back to Cleveland, we are still going to win the ship!!!! Let’s go Heat!!

Freshman Seminar Post #1

Hi Everyone, it’s Michael Ruocco. For those of you that don’t know, I like music. I wasn’t sure if the band tee-shirts gave it away. It is really the only thing I understand and what I hope to be associated with in the future. Whether it is being a musician/performer playing drums or working on the business side;management, record labels, producing, etc. To no surprise, here is my  10 song playlist that represents me. They are my favorite songs by the artist listed, that I listen to frequently. Enjoy.

Foo Fighters:  These Days
Cage the Elephant: Cigarette Daydreams
Grouplove: Colours
The Killers: A Dustland Fairytale
The Front Bottoms: Flashlight
blink-182: Asthenia
Brand New: Limousine
Twenty One Pilots: Guns for Hands
Portugal.The Man: Modern Jesus
LCD Soundsystem: Home

To begin, before I listen to a song, I pay more attention to the actual music playing rather than the lyrics. This made the assignment a challenge. The songs above lyrically do not represent who I am. These are some of my favorite songs that tell the story of this past summer: The memories shared between my best friends, the concerts/music festivals I went to, and the flow.

This past summer I saw my favorite band, Foo Fighters, at Firefly Music Festival and was physically in the presence (mission accomplished) of my role model Dave Grohl. “These Days” is one of the best songs by the Foo’s and the way I remember my account with my best friends at Firefly. I was also able to see Grouplove, Portugal. The Man, and Cage the Elephant. Three bands that have made it into my “List” and whose songs are fun, sound amazing, and are poetically written.

“A Dustland Fairytale” and “Flashlight” can be called the songs of the summer, at least for my group of friends. These were the songs we were always playing and singing along to. Staying up late, screaming the lyrics for everyone to hear, walking home, and listening to it all over again. The best times of my life.

“Limousine” is about a rather sad and gory subject, I’d rather not get into. The song is melodic and  creeps down your spine. It’s incredible. It is the conversations on the topic, of “Limousine”, and the intricate lyricism of Jesse Lacey’s voice that I will always remember.

“Asthenia”, “Guns for Hands”, and “Home” are songs by three bands I have yet to see. They are fun, loud, and I could listen to them anytime of day. No matter how I’m feeling, these songs make me better. It’s a beautiful thing.

Who am I? I am a music lover. It is something I could talk about for hours and you could not shut me up. It is how I relate to things things and what I am thinking about all day: when I can I plug in and listen to that new song or artist? This is who I am with my closest friends and what I hope to be with my classmates…some may call a “music nerd”. Oh well.
