Enrichment: Student Life

I have joined the Spoon Baruch Chapter publications. I was interested in Spoon back in the summer, and it was the first organization at Baruch that I applied to. Later in the summer, I got accepted as the team’s social marketer. Once you are accepted into Spoon Baruch, you need to complete the online skills that apply to your role. The picture below shows all my completed marketer skills I had to complete in order to start working with Spoon. This took me a lot of time, but luckily I was traveling a lot this summer, so I had time on the road to spare completing my skills. Baruch’s head of Spoon is Hannah Sarraf. She oversees that everyone is completing their tasks through a site called Slack – Secret Sauce. My social marketing team manager is Vicki Riley. She assigned me the role of being the team’s Instagram lead. My job is to post on the Spoon Baruch Instagram page 3x a day, as well as oversee follower interaction and post engagement. At this time, Spoon Baruch has about 900 followers on Instagram, and we are trying to boost that up to 1,000 by the end of the month!

My favorite subject at school is English. I am very interested in journalism and I even held a summer internship last summer with Buffalo Rising. Buffalo Rising is an online newspaper, and I was responsible for reaching out to developers, interviewing them and touring their buildings, and writing an article on it. For a while, I also was co-head of my school’s newspaper, Nichols News. Although I wasn’t able to keep up with it because of other commitments, the ability to write has always been a talent of mine. I’m glad I joined Baruch because while my major is CIS and Business, I’m glad I also have an outlet that allows for my creativity and use of writing.
