Blog Post #2 – Diana Derylo (Student Life)

In high school I always liked being apart of something. I was a member of my schools volleyball team, a member of the math and science leadership committee, and much more. I thought to myself, college shouldn’t change that, so I decided to go to the club fair on September 28th in the main gym. While walking into the gym I saw many clubs and I thought to myself, “where do I begin”. The gym was filled with students and the DJ played high energy and up to date songs. Everyone was eager to talk to me and share what their club has to offer. One club that caught my attention was the Women in Business club. Their whole table was purple and their shirts were purple, so I guess thats their main color. I don’t know why purple, but I didn’t want to ask. Anyway one representative from WIB told me that their club is about teaching and inspiring women into becoming future leaders in the business world. Since I plan on majoring in finance, this might be the right club for me. They hold many events and they are all announced on all of their social media accounts. Walking through the rest of the club fair I found there to be many cultural clubs as well. For instance, the Caribbean Student Association, the Chinese Language Association, and Hillel. Although even after seeing and talking to some of the clubs I still don’t see myself joining any just yet. I feel like I need to get more adjusted to the life at Baruch College and joining something right now might throw me off track with my classes. I hope that there will be another club fair next semester where I might be more open to joining a club and being apart of something new. Maybe I’ll be a member of the Women in Business club, we’ll just have to wait and see.
