Harun Al -Rashid

A ruler of the Abbasid Dynasty at the young age of 20 years old. Born in 766 and began rule around 786 in current day Bagdhad, Iran. He lead military expeditions against the Byzantine empire or Constantinople and was victorious in several battles. He was known to have signed treaties with Charlemagne , a well known European leader at the time. His rule relied heavily on his chief ministers and advisors, although this time frame saw many independent uprisings. The Thousand and One Night Tales made Al-Rashad legendary however it did not truly depict his rule as it was losing power.

Al Rashid’s rule spanned from Egypt, Syria Iraq to modern day Pakistan and Yemen. By the time he took rule, his city was the largest in the world outside of China.
