Baruch College’s MakerHub Shines at Spring Fling Event

The MakerHub at Baruch College, a space dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and creativity on campus, recently participated in the Spring Fling event hosted by President Wu and the Undergraduate Student Government (USG).

Largest turnout

The event featured numerous tables and vendors, but the MakerHub’s table stood out as a resounding success, attracting over 140 people eager to showcase their creativity.

At the MakerHub’s table, attendees had the opportunity to create an array of personalized accessories, including friendship bracelets, charm bracelets, necklaces, and phone straps. The “Brooklyn charm” style was a hit among students, staff, and faculty alike, with participants enthusiastically selecting their own charms and beads to design unique pieces. The bracelets proved to be so popular that the planned pin-making activity was foregone in favor of more bracelet crafting.

The biggest hits

One of the highlights of the event was the inclusion of special 2024 graduation charms, which many seniors incorporated into their bracelets as a symbol of their upcoming milestone.

The MakerHub’s table brought together the entire Baruch College community, with students, staff, and even public safety officers joining in on the fun. A heartwarming photo captured a smiling public safety officer proudly displaying her newly created bracelet.

The success of the MakerHub’s participation in the Spring Fling event showcases the importance of providing spaces and opportunities for students to express their creativity and engage in hands-on activities. By offering a platform for individuals to explore their artistic side and create meaningful mementos, the MakerHub continues to play a vital role in enriching the college experience at Baruch.

Events like these not only promote a sense of community among students, staff, and faculty but also highlight the significance of embracing innovation and entrepreneurship within the educational setting.

As the MakerHub continues to thrive and inspire, it is clear that events like the Spring Fling serve as a testament to the power of collaboration, creativity, and community spirit within the walls of Baruch College.
