Linking from OneSearch or WorldCat to Interlibrary Loan Page

Our ILL staff and BCTC are working on the ILLiad server to fix a problem you may have encountered when using the ILL links in a record for OneSearch or WorldCat. When you click a “Request via ILL” link in a OneSearch record (see screenshot below), the ILL page doesn’t load properly (it’s all text with no formatting or design elements).

Link to ILL in OneSearch record

As a workaround, go to the main page for interlibrary loan in a separate browser tab or window using this URL or by using the navigation options in the website header (links to ILL are found under the “Students” and “Faculty” menus). Once logged in, users can fill in the request form for the item they need. Here is the URL for the ILL page:

Workarounds for Login Problems to S&P NetAdvantage

As noted in last year’s post here about S&P NetAdvantage login problems, the most common issue is caused by oversized cookies in the user’s browser that get in the way of the login process in EZproxy.  While a user might be able to log into some databases , S&P NetAdvantage will be a problem. After making sure that the user is starting from our link to S&P NetAdvantage on the A-Z databases page, there are three different workarounds that usually lead to a successful login:

  1. Ask the user to clear their browser cache (instructions can be found easily on the web by searching for the name of the browser and the terms “clear” and “cache.”)
  2. Ask the user to open up a new browser window or tab in “incognito” or “private” mode and then try to login from there.
  3. Ask the user to try a different browser (e.g., if it’s not working in Chrome, try Firefox or Safari).

Economy.com Is Now Economic View

Moody’s Analytics has decided to rebrand “Economy.com” as “Economic View.” The database asset on our A-Z list has been temporarily renamed “Economic View (formerly Economy.com).” After six months, the asset will just say “Economic View.” This is the third name change for this database since we started subscribing to it, as it was “Dismal Scientist” until 2016.

Please note that our subscription only includes access to the “U.S. / Canada” content. When you first go to the site, you’ll want to click “Global” and then “U.S. / Canada” from the menu to get to the content we have a license for.

Remote Access to Databases Down on January 12

From 6 am – 9 am on Tuesday, January 12, all the databases and resources that use EZproxy for authentication will be unavailable while we upgrade the EZproxy software. This affects any resource where the URL begins:

https://remote.baruch.cuny.edu

Searches may still be run in OneSearch as well as in other databases that don’t use EZproxy for authentication (e.g., O’Reilly, WRDS, etc.)

As soon as the work is complete (including testing), an updated blog post will be published here.
