Linking from OneSearch or WorldCat to Interlibrary Loan Page

Our ILL staff and BCTC are working on the ILLiad server to fix a problem you may have encountered when using the ILL links in a record for OneSearch or WorldCat. When you click a “Request via ILL” link in a OneSearch record (see screenshot below), the ILL page doesn’t load properly (it’s all text with no formatting or design elements).

Link to ILL in OneSearch record

As a workaround, go to the main page for interlibrary loan in a separate browser tab or window using this URL or by using the navigation options in the website header (links to ILL are found under the “Students” and “Faculty” menus). Once logged in, users can fill in the request form for the item they need. Here is the URL for the ILL page:

Interlibrary Loan Page Looks Broken But Does Work

BCTC has been notified about a problem that started today with the display of the login page for the interlibrary loan service. It seems like there is an issue with the CSS that controls the look and feel of the page. While we wait for the page to get fixed, it’s worth knowing that you can still log in and submit requests.

Just scroll down the page to find the boxes where you can type in your Baruch or CUNY SPS username and password to log in. Once you do that, the interior pages for the service all look fine and work as expected.

ILLiad Service Restored

ILLiad service is now restored. Patrons are now able to log in to ILLiad to access their accounts and make new interlibrary loan requests.

Please note: if anyone attempts to log in and still gets an error message, please have them try again after clearing the browser’s cache with CTRL+F5.

Any questions? We are available at x1675 or illbb@baruch.cuny.edu.  Thanks!

Wednesday, 6/12/13: Scheduled ILLiad Update / Interlibrary Loan Service Temporarily Unavailable

We will be running an ILLiad system update on Wednesday, 6/12/13, beginning at 8:30AM. While the update and following system checks are running, patrons will not be able to log on to their ILLiad accounts or make new interlibrary loan requests.

We will restore the service as soon as possible; in the meantime, patrons who need immediate assistance should be directed to contact us at illbb@baruch.cuny.edu or at 646-312-1674.

Thank you!

Resource Sharing

The New York Public Library and the libraries of Columbia University and New York University have announced the formation of a new collaboration, called the Manhattan Research Library Initiative, or MaRLI.  The press release says, in part, that –

MaRLI will enable NYU and Columbia PhD students and faculty, as well as scholars whose work is based at NYPL, to check out materials from all three libraries, a first step to improve access to collections among the three institutions.  The model is a departure from NYPL’s historical practice, whereby research materials have not been allowed to circulate.

New York Public Library users unaffiliated with NYU or CU can obtain borrowing privileges by demonstrating that they have exhausted the available resources for their projects and need sustained access to the resources of the three institutions.  A research consultation with an NYPL librarian and a completed form are required.
