The role of non-profit stakeholders is important to analyze because of its importance. Stakeholders are essential for an organization’s growth and improvement, but they also need “special attention”. What I mean by “special attention” is that organizations need to be cognizant of what stakeholders want, need, and expect of you. Just like you may have expectations of them, they have expectations of you. Some stakeholders may provide the money, but nothing is absolutely free. The government (stakeholder) will have expectations and so will the staff (stakeholders). The role of stakeholders is influential in an organization, especially in non-profit organizations because in order to secure the funds, organizations need to know what these stakeholders prioritize and what they would like from you in return for the funds. By understanding their influence and their power, it is important for organizations to strategize and see how expectations could be met. An example of what stakeholders may want in return is increase of college acceptances of participants in a particular organization. This is when non-profit organizations should strategize and see how this need and want could come to fruition. Furthermore, non-profit stakeholders exert influence on a micro and macro level. Depending on their role, stakeholders could be in charge of changing leadership and opportunities, or understanding system level influence (how the government deals with certain type of social problem or issue).
