Press Operation Intern at a Congresswoman’s Office (Deadline Dec.15, 2021)

The District Office of Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (1651 3rd Avenue at 92nd & 3rd Avenue) is currently looking for a press intern to support the Congresswoman’s press operation. This is a 3 month position starting in January 2022. Please find a description below and circulate with your students. Please note that this is an in-person internship.

Press Internship Description

Press interns will play a central role in the Congresswoman’s press shop and will get one-on-one training by the NY Press Secretary and face time with the Congresswoman, a senior member of the New York Congressional Delegation and a member of the Democratic leadership as Chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. Interns will assist with coordinating and advancing the Congresswoman’s press conferences, drafting press releases and advisories, staffing internal and external events, pitching calls to the New York press corps in advance of press conferences, monitoring media coverage in local papers, and managing a daily list of news clips relevant to the work of the Congresswoman. Our office is a fast-paced work environment in which excellent writing, computer, research and organization skills are highly appreciated, as is a strong interest in current events and local politics. The office is flexible on time and school schedules.

No previous communications internships or experience is necessary but an interest in local NYC politics is critical.
