Costa for Queens Borough President is looking for hardworking interns from local colleges, universities and high schools to join the team trying to elect Costa as Borough President on June 23, 2020! Costa Constantinides believes that everyone in Queens deserves to live without fear of rising seas or rising rents. He recognizes that climate change presents an existential threat to all New Yorkers. For qualified, motivated students and recent graduates, this position provides an opportunity to join a grassroots campaign to transform Queens. Due to the unprecedented crisis we are going through, interns will work remotely from home.
Intern will be exposed to:
- The inner workings of a fast-paced local election
- Hands on experience strategizing and planning with seasoned campaign staff
- Opportunities to help multiple departments and see the different sides of a campaign
- Partner with interest groups and other political offices to amplify policy goals
Job Description
- Connect with community members and groups to recruit volunteers to the campaign
- Help organize and participate in canvassing events including text banking, phone banking, digital town halls, etc.
- Compiling data submitted by volunteers
- Content creation – Suggest events or content that can further the campaign
- Devising innovative methods of connecting with community members using social media, or other remote canvassing options
Requirements
- Strong communication skills
- Access to own laptop and/or smartphone preferred
- Interest in grassroots organizing, environmental causes, and/or local government/politics strongly preferred
- Excitement to elect Costa for Queens Borough President!
Timeframe, compensation, location
- Flexible hours
- This position is unpaid, but documentation will be provided for any credit requirement
- Recommendation letters provided by staff and/or councilman based on performacne
- Work remotely
