Get Ready For: The Perfect Gift for Mother

wordMachine.org

Mother and child at dusk

Mother’s Day is upon us once again and the decision to find the perfect gift for the one person who gave birth to you, namely your mother, can be somewhat daunting.

The choices are endless: Should you stick with old faithful in buying flowers or getting her a card, or pick something outside the box? Bustle has some interesting ideas for those looking for help:

The second Sunday in May heralds the day of appreciation to the one person who is always thinking of us. Unfortunately it is not always easy to get something for the most important woman in your life. Seventeen magazine Kelsey Stegman gives us seventeen gift ideas for mother on her day, they range from decadent chocolate treats to comfy night wear, http://www.seventeen.com/fashion/style-advice/tips/g935/mothers-day-gifts/?slide=1

Not one for the sweet sentimental gifts? Well this year even Hollywood is celebrating Mother’s Day with a movie about — wait for it — a mom.

If none of these sounds like the ideal thing for your mother, then falling back on the time honored tradition of giving mom the day off from the kitchen is always a good bet, just try not to end the day in the emergency room from food poisoning.

The legendary country western singer/songwriter Merle Haggard died at the age of 79 on April 6th 2016 after battling pneumonia for several months. But that doesn’t mean the world won’t get new music from the music icon.

He has left behind several hundred unreleased songs for his adoring fans. He spoke with Broadways Electric Barnyard about his personal archives of songs “probably 300, 400 songs that I haven’t released that I’ve collected over the years.”

Quentin Tarantino’s newest western is finally being released for home viewing. “The Hateful Eight,” starring Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell and Jennifer Jason Leigh, will hit stores on DVD and on demand March 29th — though it is still available in some theaters across the country.

This is not Tarantino’s first western and hopefully it won’t be his last – Django Unchained could be loosely described as a romantic bloodbath – with Samuel L. Jackson turning out to be the ultimate bad guy.  In this new movie Tarantino continues his signature moves of raw grit, straight talk and bloody massacred.

Tarantino writes this one almost like an Alfred Hitchcock film: we trust no one.
