Theory Think

With your group members, discuss the particular philosophy text we’ve read.  Identify three main arguments or tenets of the text.  Then as a group you should figure out your collective position on this philosophy.

You can start with whether you disagree or agree, but you must go on to make compelling cases for why you disagree or agree.  You may also choose to agree with some parts and disagree with other parts.  You may choose to agree but extend a part of the argument.  The point is for your group to actually think about the idea the writer puts forth and to  figure out whether you collectively believe it.  If you not believe it, then what you do believe.

These exercises are meant to prepare you for articulating your  theory on school, education, learning, personhood, and the idea of the human.  You should begin these posts in Google Doc, but as the semester goes on you may do this post in written form or as a collage or  a video discussion, which you upload to the site.  Regardless of the medium you use, when I view your post, I should be able to:

1) identify the three tenets of the philosophy that you’re highlighting

2) understand what your group thinks about some part of those tenets

3) articulate why your group holds these beliefs.

[This assignment does not receive a grade.  If you have all three of these components, your post will be considered thorough, and if you post on time, it will be timely.]
