Many people are selfish, greedy and often take advantages from others. They consider themselves rather than thinking others. Lazarillo’s new master is worse than his old master was. His new master keep saying that his life is better than the pope although he did not give food Lazarillo. According to the reading, the priest ate all food and locked them up in order to know how much food left there. Lazarillo needs permission from his master when he takes food from locker and brings the key back to him even though it is a small portion of food. In the reading, “he has nothing to eat, but his master says, “You live better than the pope.” In this case, I think that imaginary and practical lives are two different things. I find, it is an ironic and has a strong emotion on it. The priest ate all food and left only bones for him and keep saying that “he has a better life than the pope.” While Lazarillo is dying for hunger and cannot straight up, saying that this is for you, celebrate and have a better life. It is not fair. The reality is totally opposite and the hunger does not pay Lazarillo or give him a healthy life. One kind of emotion is involved here. On the other hand, the priest are taking advantages from Lazarillo comparing him the pope and keep saying that “he has batter life than the pope.” For me, It is unacceptable and untruth because the pope was a roman head of church and a holy father where the priest is totally opposite. The priest does not treat Lazarillo as he supposed to treat on him. Therefore, I think that it is an ironic that is involved a strong feelings on it.
