The Baruch Starr Career Development Center is honored to receive 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards at the CUNY Best Practices Awards that took place in April 2019 at the Career Services Association of CUNY meeting. These awards are an addition to Starr’s 25+ awards and recognitions as we continued to be recognized by others as a premium career service provider among all 25 colleges within CUNY and beyond. 1st Place: Collaboration with Campus Community Award Bridge to Baruch (B2B), our flagship program that focuses on early career planning and trajectories of transfer students earned us the 1st place for Collaboration with Campus Community. Starr works closely with teams involved with career services, enrollment management, new student programs and faculty to fill a gap that enhances the experiences of transfer students at a 4-year school, including educational programs and recruitment opportunities. 2nd Place: Employer Partnerships Award Starr’s Professional Volunteer Program collaborates with professionals across various industries and organizations to provide students with the resources they need to advance their careers. Through this program, Starr has been able to assist hundreds of students each year with one-on-one resume and cover letter reviews and interview tips to help them find meaningful internship and full time employment opportunities, while fostering mentorship and connections between industry professionals and students. 3rd Place: Utilization of Technology Award Starr’s use of technology and innovation as demonstrated through the Bridge to Baruch program, the use of social media, and tools like Constant Contact for email outreach and Symplicity for career management resulted in us earning 3rd place in this category. Our marketing materials are carefully crafted for targeted campaigning, resulted in 82% open rates and 24% participation rates in the program. We are grateful for the support we have received from Baruch faculty, staff, alumni, employer partners and students for making this possible for Starr. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone associated with Starr, and look forward to providing our students with innovative programs, and empower them with the tools to help them achieve their educational and career goals.
