Peng Fei Wu

Hey everyone, my name is Peng and I had recently transferred to Baruch last semester. I’m a sophomore currently majoring in economics, although I’m not really sure this is the major I’d like to stick to.

This image represents me as the sea is known for its vastness and its swift changes in conditions. Due to its vastness, anyone like me can get easily lost at sea, faced with an immense amount of directions to take, and never really knowing if the one I’m taking will lead me to the destination I’m aiming for. Currently, the sea is calm and smooth, given the fact that I am still in my sophomore year and have some time, but I know the stormy conditions are quickly approaching, as I get closer and closer to taking my major courses once I get in Zicklin. Due to this, my main goal of this semester is to find that right path before I get stuck in the eye of the storm.

Tia Dewar

This is an image of a small boat in the middle of the deep daunting blue sea. Figuratively a depiction of a warrior alone in such a miraculous space. Most of us in College are young-adults. Leaving High School, leaving home, and leaving what you know. Since youth I always had this notion of “going off on my own” which is a blessing and a curse! I relate to this image because it’s the embodiment of being in your own world.

Zach Hazan

Hi everyone, my name is Zachary Hazan. I am a freshman at Baruch college currently majoring in biology. I am considering other interests such as computer science and psychology, but for now I’m just exploring until something stands out.

This image is of a pair of glasses with three lenses, but I guess it’s technically not a pair of glasses because a pair means two. Anyways, it represents me because not only do I much prefer to wear glasses instead of contact lenses which turn my eyes into a desert during the winter, but I also believe that there’s something beyond what our two eyes can see and what our four other senses can sense.

Griffin Hughes

My name is Griffin Hughes. I am a sophomore at Baruch College working towards my BBA – Finance.

“Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.” – Marcus Aurelius

This is a quote that I read in 9th grade when I first read meditations and, it is something that has stuck with me since then. It has driven my perspective in everything from personal relationships to politics. For me, it means that there are many sides to a story and, even something that may be believed as absolute by most can be false when looked at from a different perspective.

Eric Ren

Hello, my name is Eric Ren. This image represents me as it is one of my favorite sports to watch and play. Football has been really important to me the past few years and especially during this pandemic.  It was something I enjoyed playing after school. The pro games kept me busy for a while since staying inside all day was and still is very boring. Hopefully, we can get rid of covid soon so I can go outside without worries again.

This second image also represents me during much of this pandemic. I finally got the chance to build a pc. It was a nice learning experience since I pretty much had next to no clue on how to do anything. Having a pc gives me something to do during my time cooped up inside my home. I can play many games that I wasn’t able to with my previous laptop.

Ariel Chechik

My name is Ariel and this is my first semester at Baruch. I was born in Manhattan but lived most of my life in north Jersey. I’m excited to start this semester and get to know you all. Some of my hobbies include traveling, nature, sports, cars, reading, and more. I chose this picture because it has a nice geographical description of my life. Taken in Jersey, it has some foliage in the forefront while overlooking the GW bridge and the city skyline.

Daiki Henderson

Hello, my name is Daiki (pronounced Diekey), and I’m a Freshman. I chose to share a photo of my current skateboard deck from when it was new. I started skating near the beginning of quarantine and it’s become one of my favorite things to do since then, it aligns a lot with most of my other hobbies like exploring and has allowed me to grow as a person through the community. I really like the feeling of being able to just cruise throughout the city especially at night. I also like the whole diy aspect of it and being able to customize my board to my own style and comforts. If anyone is interested on what I ride right now: 8.25 Killing Floor deck, Independent 144s with 2 inch risers, Ricta Cloud 86a 57 mm wheels.

Walker Brown-Adams

Hello my name is Walker Brown-Adams (she/her). I am a born and raised New Yorker and transfer student at Baruch from Skidmore College, although I have not been enrolled in college for about 3 years now. I have always had an unusual academic path and it has led me to be able to pursue a number of different experiences. I worked for the Museum of Natural History for a year, went to an acting conservatory, lead the marketing team at a startup, and worked as an event host.

The above picture is one I took of my friends at a picnic I organized as a test event for the company I was in the midst of launching pre-pandemic. I really love this photo for many reasons, firstly it includes a group of people I cherish deeply, time with friends and socializing in general is something that brings me deep joy. Secondly, we held the picnic in the Great Lawn, a place that I have been going to since I was a baby. I love feeling away from the city while still enjoying the buzz of energy that permeates manhattan. Third, we are all playing a game in this photo, and I am a massive game nerd. Since March my friends and I have used a weekly Dungeons and Dragons meeting to stay in contact. Finally, I just really miss these kinds of gatherings and I cannot wait to be able to get back to hosting them.

I’ll leave you with some fun facts: I have a pet snake named Draco, I am related to two presidents, and I love to ski.

KEVIN B HERNANDEZ

I chose a cactus because in my eyes it symbolizes the different aspects of life. The cactus represents me. I am a transfer Junior from BMCC. Each arm grows out a different size, length, and direction to vision the various journeys, accomplishments, and opportunities. I am the cactus that was bought to the U.S so that my arms can reach. I am a very self driven, risk taken, easy approachable individual. Though Mexican may not always be the first impression when you see me, the cactus has much meaning to my culture and who I am. My spikes may protect me at times but I enjoy growing each day with the sunlight. I have a thing for trying new things such as food and outdoor activities so that life isn’t boring. But besides being the cactus I also like the green life that comes with it such as putting on plant music, change, and being at peace.

Luci Ong

Hello, I’m Luci Ong and I’m a freshman at Baruch College this spring. The image I selected relates to my career goals involving internship opportunities, law school, and the pathway to become a corporate lawyer. My future endeavors are a significant part of who I am as it motivates me to get my degree and strive for academic success. This particular career has always been something that I was passionate about, throughout high school I took relevant courses such as speech and debate that I throughly enjoyed and learned from.
