The song starts off by saying “Said you belong to the streets but the streets belong to me.” To understand this quote you have to think about it figuratively. If you understand New York slang, you would know that “belonging to the streets” refers to someone who can’t be committed as they are dating as many people as they want; Essentially you are someone who can’t be wifed up, or a h*e. When Drake starts off the song with these lyrics, what he really is saying is, “okay I know you talking to other people, no strings attached, but the streets belong to me; I really run this player mindset/behavior more than you do.” From the beginning of the song it is foreshadowed that this woman wasn’t someone he could have a relationship with but he decided to do so otherwise. In the background of the song you hear drums and a person saying “oh oh oh” smoothly in different octaves. He then, however, goes to explain the things he did for this woman. He says, “I tatted your passport up now it’s looking like an arm sleeve/ just know that was all me.” He flew her out to many different countries which is why her passport is tatted up, in other words, stamped everywhere.
