ENG 2100: Writing 1 with Jay Thompson

Crisleydi Paulino, Week 8, Object Analysis

The couches in my living room are significant but only to a certain extent as they weren’t always there. I’ll say my living room as a whole is more important. I’ve lived in my home for 9 years. Most significant memories that I lived through happened in my living room. If I had to draw the attention to a certain object I’ll say the TV. This is where I would watch my favorite shows as a kid and listen to music. I remember watching Disney Chanel everyday after a long day of elementary school. Trying to multitask watching a show and doing my homework. All the shows I used to watch made up my childhood as well as others.

Watching the ball drop for New Years from my TV with the people I love was always something very special to me. Although today I hardly turn my TV on , we still casually make use of it when we have visitors to play a movie or have a music in the background. In a way it brings a sense of nostalgia as I remember all the singing and dance battles my cousin and I once used have, celebrating holidays with family, and watching my favorite shows that I now can only hold as a memory.

While writing this I found it hard to pin point one object to analyze. I feel like a lot of things work with the other. For example, you expect there to be a TV in a living room (even though there doesn’t have to be one) because in a way this is what makes up a living room.
