The Tools for Clear Speech program (TfCS) offers nonnative English speakers at Baruch some of the most comprehensive, advanced and innovative oral communication tutorial services available. Overseen by the nationally certified, award winning Student Academic Consulting Center, TfCS works to empower students through American English intelligibility and the self-confidence that surely follows. Our multimodal approach to clear speech instruction features one-to-one tutorial sessions with professional Speech Consultants, small group Conversation Hours, a workshop series, access to the most advanced interactive speech software available, and our most recent initiative: a video oral communication assessment that will keep students on the track to clearer communication skills throughout their Baruch careers. My Baruch Experience by Nick Colandrea
Nick Colandrea, Vice President and Compliance Manager at JPMorgan, has been an Executives on Campus Mentor since 2010. Nick participates in our Academic Year-Long Mentoring Program, in the Zicklin Undergrad Honors Mentoring Program, as well as in Mentor for a Morning/Evening. Nick also sits on EOC’s Advisory Committee. We asked him to share his thoughts on being an EOC Mentor and some of the advice he gives his Mentees.
“A mentor would have been very useful early in my career. I think the Baruch EOC has created a great program and I wish it much success in the future. I am very happy to be a part of it and know that I am able to help out the great students of Baruch.”
Stand Out: Building Your Personal Brand by Diane Baranello
This spring, EOC is thrilled to welcome back Diane Baranello to our Job$mart Career Hour series. In anticipation of her March 18th Job$mart “Stand Out: Building Your Personal Brand” event, we asked Diane to share her thoughts and expertise on Personal Branding.
“Three words to keep in mind as you take the personal branding journey … clarity, consistency and distinction. If you build your brand on who you genuinely are, you’ll never be at a loss for words and your brand will speak for you.”
EOC Interview: John Clare & Chandrapaul Latchman
An open dialogue about what the Mentee hopes to take away from each meeting is crucial. Each meeting should be a safe place where the Mentee can express himself or herself without fear of negative judgment.

Mentee Alumni Program: MAP Rolodex
We have all been impacted by EOC’s mentoring programs in some way, and we are looking to give a fresh perspective on the mentoring experience with casual and relaxed interactions between the Mentors and Mentees.
