Out of all the enrichment workshops we have attended, my favorite one is the performance of Baruch’s Voice.  It is my favorite workshop because it was fun and interesting to hear other students’ first year experience a Baruch.  It is worth to know the similarities and differences between mine first year experience at Baruch and others’ first year experience at Baruch because it somehow gives me a sense of how others are doing, and I can learn from them, from their mistakes or successions.  In addition, I like the performers who were presenting the monologues written by students on the stage; the ways they spoke, the way they acted, the way they added emotions and the tones of their voices made the whole show fun and interesting.  The show inspired me a lot because it made me think of the future at Baruch by hearing different stories and thoughts others had about Baruch.  Sone people hated the school, some people liked the school, and some people don’t even care.  However, I’m looking forward to the upcoming years at Baruch.  Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

Baruch voices

I liked the performance. It was surprisingly for Baruch very well organised. The stories the actors picked were very touching. I find two of them to be my favourite: the guy who tried to quit smoking and the girl who moved out from her mom. The first one reminds me of myself since I’m a smoker and sound like that guy too very often. I used to buy packs and say they were my last one. It never happened though. I still smoke. The second story kind of refers to my experience of moving to a different country and leaving my parents but not in terms of everything. That girl’s mom was very determined in taking care of her daughter and never gave her private space. My parents did but they thought that i would never be able to live on my own since according to them I will not manage to take care of myself far away from them.

The acting itself was beautiful. The actors depicted the emotions that those must have felt very clearly. I could feel those people and understand them as if they were telling it to me. The performance was engaging. I liked it!

The first three months of college have been a a learning experience for me. I have met great people and have learned things I never knew I would learn. I can’t wait to experience more and meet more people throughout my college career. Below I inserted a picture of some amazing people I have met.

Workshop – Howard

My favorite workshop will have to be the trip to the Rubin Museum. Although I wasn’t very interested in the content of the museum, it was more fun and productive than sitting in an auditorium with hundreds of other kids that didn’t want to be there either listening to people recite other’s work. The museum, at least, was somewhat educational and opened a few more perspectives for me on Himalayan art.

3&4

My favorite workshop was the advisement one. I learned how to apply to classes because lily did a bad job of doing it. Yayayayay and I learned what classes I should be taking.

Experience at Baruch – Howard

This picture pretty much sums up the first three months of my life at Baruch. Too many times I wanted to give up on the immense work I have stacked up because of procrastination. But in the end, I always end up finishing the work last minute leaving me wondering why I do this to myself over and over again. On another note, my experience at Baruch has been pleasant overall. The facility is nice, clean and modern and the staff are all very helpful. The students are also all willing to learn and focused on education which is a good influence.

If I was Ying for a day

If I was Ying for  a day I would make the class more fun. For a few days we played a debate game where there were two sides and we got to choose our side and defend our claim. I had alot of fun actually, and I really wanted to do more of them. We had really good discussions concerning the issues brought up such as ethical dillemas. I think if we had more of these it would have been a much more enjoyable class, which is very needed when the class meets at so early on Tuesday mornings. Also, it would be alot more fun if the class could meet in between our history class (which is right after) and our english (which is 3 hours later). having it in between would cut out our 3 hour wait period

My favorite Freshman Seminar workshop was Baruch Voices. It was a dramatization of selected student monologues being played out by professional actors. These actors did an incredible job of capturing the essence of the student’s words and thoughts. The recitation of the students’ monologues was a very picturesque experience (to me). Lastly, it also revealed that no matter where you are, there are always other individuals who may have been trough some troubling times and quite possibly still are.

Registration Workshop-Michael Sheridan

My favorite Enrichment workshop that I attended was the registration workshop. It was  very helpful  with picking our classes. It outlined all the possible classes we could take next semester and even next year. It gave me a good idea of what exactly I should be taking  next semester. Our academic adviser Mr. Rodriguez was very helpful with everything and I really enjoyed it. It was one of the most helpful workshop and I think everyone in the class took something out of it. It changed my personal perspective by showing the classes I needed to take for my major. This really put me in the mindset for my future and actually inspired me to research different classes that would help me with my major.
