COM 1130, TUE/THU 9:30AM – 10:45AM

Dear Ms McCall,
This is Eline Andresen and I am currently in your Communication 1130 class, who meets at Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30AM to 10:45AM. I just received my transcript with my grades for the 2013 fall semester. According to this transcript, I got a B+ in your class. I believe that I deserve an A- in your class as I have never missed a class, always been on time and handed in my assignements on time. I have also contributed to a good class enviroment, by contributing in the class discussions and not causing class disruptions. I hope that you see where I am coming from and can look over my grades one more time.

Please let me know on your decision at your earliest convenience.

Thank you,
Eline Tangen Andresen

New York Times, Blog 2

Our group selected the theme music for the New York Times project. We decided on this theme as it has such a big impact on our everyday lives. Most of us listen to music for hours every day when we walk to school, work out and do homework. I wrote one article on how music can be associated with academic achievement according to recent studies. The other article I wrote relates to the theme as it talks about why we listen to sad music. I chose these two articles as I find both of them very interesting and relatable to the theme. I love to listen to all types of music, and I know how much it can change my mood. Music does make a difference!

New York Times Blog 2

Our group decided to use music as our theme for the NY times Project. We decided to adhere to this theme because we knew that so many people listen and can relate to music. In addition to all that, we knew that music has many benefits and drawbacks to it which we all thought would be cool to explore. My article fits this them because it talks about how music can affect teens in general and their behaviors. I love to listen to music and what I realized was that my mood correlated with the type of music I listen too. Without music I don’t know what I would do in the shower and on my way to school. Music allows me to express myself. Music does make a difference!

Dear Dr. Pedro,

This is Shaun Edalati. I’m currently in your business 180 class, but I’ve taken additional classes of yours in the past, all of which have been very informative. Recently, I decided to switch my major to Finance, and I was hoping you might be willing to become my advisor. I realize that you must already have plenty of other students you are in charge of, but since your classes are part of the reason I decided to switch majors, I thought I would ask you first.

Please let me know at your earliest convenience if you would be willing to become my advisor.

Thank you very much,

Music Theme

The theme that our group selected was music. We decided to pick this theme because music is very smooth, fun and intellectual at the same time. The articles fit the theme because they spoke about how music can make us more productive in a workplace and how music moves our mood. Music in general has a major impact on who we are and how we feel. I helped come out with the idea of the theme and contributed by typing one of the articles. I wrote about how music makes us more productive in workplace. Music does make a difference!

ENG 2100 M/W 8:15AM-9:30AM

Dear Professor  Shaun Pecker,

I just got back my transcripts with my grades, and it says I got a B in your class. I strongly believe that I deserve a B+ in your class. I came to all your classes on time, I sat in the front of the room and contributed to the class discussion. I did all my assignments when they were supposed to be done and never handed my papers late. I really enjoyed your class and did not cause any class disruption. I hope you can see where I am coming from and see that I do deserve a better grade. Thank you for your time and hope to hear back from you soon.

Sincerely,

Xavier Carrillo

Who am I?

Hey my name’s Romin Kershaw, friends and family also call me rk or Chin as well. I was born in Brooklyn, NY and I’ve lived here my whole life. I’m the youngest of three brothers, and the last to go to college (both graduated). I’m of African American and Filipino descent meaning my father is Black and my mom is Asian. I’m a pretty simple dude and I’m honestly just trying to find my calling in life at the moment.  My hobbies include listening to music,lifting/making gains, playing basketball,  *trying* to teach myself java programming, and playing video games. I’m currently looking to major in Finance/accounting but I don’t want to 100% commit to either yet because things in life change, and so might my aspirations and ideas of what I want to be in life. My favorite basketball team is the New York Knicks and my favorite player is Carmelo Anthony. I don’t really watch any other sports other than basketball so I can’t wait until the season starts with all the injured players coming back ( D.Rose, R. Rondo, Kobe, etc) it will definitely be a season to remember. The collection of music in my playlist consists of songs from some of my  favorite artists but they also have meanings. Anyway hope you enjoyed this insightful post. – Romin K.  http://grooveshark.com/#!/playlist/Freshman+Seminar+Playlist/90726752

Who am I? I’m really just a simple girl, there’s nothing I feel really stands out about me. That’s probably why I find it so painful to describe myself–but I’ll do my best, yes? My name is Jasmine Constantino, and I’m an 18 year old girl. I live in Yonkers, NY with my mother, father, and brother. I’ve had some difficulties in my life, but overall, I feel very happy and privileged. I don’t get upset very easily at all, and many of my close friends wonder if I even have the ability to get mad. Overall, at surface value, I’m just a nice and simple person who’s trying to live their life. I can’t really fluff this up anymore since I don’t really notice much about myself, but a few more things about me that give shallow insight into who I ‘am’ are:

I love animals so much. Just so incredibly much, I always have. Right now I have 5 pets: a dachshund, a sun conure (as shown), two parakeets, and a fish. Soon I’ll be adopting an albino axolotl (as shown). I just love how there are so many different kinds of animals, I love seeing an animal I’ve never seen before. I want to see all the animals.

I love food, or more specifically, baked treats. Baking and experimenting and seeing what happens is one of my hobbies. I love reading recipes, and I just enjoy the variety of things one can make with the right ingredients. I want to try all different kinds of baked goods and snacks, from all across the world, not just your average cookie (even though I love them so).

I’m the type of person that can get along with most people once I’m comfortable enough. I can get along with people, but it takes a lot for me to get attached to someone, and once I do, I’m attached. Pictured is me and one of my best friends, who I love very much. I treasure my friends and family very much so.

I don’t want to be stuck in one place all my life. I want to travel and experience what the world has to offer. It’s really a dream of mine one day, when people ask me, “Oh, what countries have you visited?” to be able to say, “All of them.”

I used to be part of an advanced art class in highschool, called ‘Art Academy’, and I would compete in competitions. I even managed to win first place in some. When I was little, I wanted to be an artist–if I only had myself to worry about, I wouldn’t care if I had to live in a box, as long as I got to do something I love. But I want to be able to support my family and pay back my parents, so I gave it up in order to pursue something more practical–business. I’m planning on majoring in international marketing.

I’m perpetually tired, and as a result, I love sleeping. In highschool, I always got in trouble for falling asleep in class. I’ve fallen asleep standing up, in a tree, on a boat. There’s a lot of embarrassing pictures of me sleeping weirdly that I could have shared, but here’s a pretty bed instead.

About Me

http://www.kizoa.com/slideshow/d5962050k2570703o1/slideshow

My name is Kseniya Us. I am a Belarussian immigrant to America. I came here when I was 16 months old with my mother and my grandmother. Moving to America is probably what shaped who I am now as well as all of my successes. Graduating high school may have been an easy feat for me, but for my mother it was a great day of pride.
In the recent years I’ve grown a passion for baking. I dont remember when or why I got into the idea of it, but all I remember is that I’ve spent the past few years baking both as a way to ease stress, and to give friends and loved ones treats. I put a lot of time and effort into my baking, and even dream of one day owning my own bakery. But that’s just a dream, not an ambition.
For the past two years I have been fortunate enough to be with the most amazing man in the world. He is my boyfriend, my best friend, the guy who cheers me up when I’m sad and takes care of me when I feel like garbage. He understands me like nobody else does, and I can be my total, stupid silly self around him. Our relationship has been nothing short of a tiny sailboat in a huge hurricane, but that’s just a part of growing up and being in a relationship. We love each other and we’re happy with each other, and I’d never take having him in my life for granted.
Another hobby I have in my life is photography. After an accidental picture, I found I had a passion for capturing the Earth in photo. Although I don’t keep up with the hobby very often at all, I still do enjoy taking pictures and seeing what I get. My passion lies in film photography, because there’s something just better about good ol black and white development.
A huge part of my life has been defined by my experiences with my best friend, Ariel. After meeting her in the 5th grade, we have been the best of friends. I owe her the world for everything she had done for me, and I can’t say anything less than that. She is my savior, my best buddy, my partner in crime. And fellow cat obsessee.
Cats. I love cats. That’s pretty much it. They’re adorable, fluffy, dumb balls of fun and they’re ADORABLE when they’re young. How the heck could you not like cats?
I’m a person who loves leisure. I like going to tea places and restaurants and eating and enjoying life like there’s no tomorrow. I love being with friends and I love being happy. And there’s no time like the present for that.
